That was my point, his shooting technique isn’t very good for anything at or beyond the 18 yard box. He’s good at a stabbing technique, but defenders know how to play him and give him the space to shoot to prevent him dribbling into the box. If he develops a shot from range it would only help. That’s what I’m saying.
My my, what a goal... I saw improvement, so maybe a few benching or bench threat now and then is what he needs. At his current form, there at probably 4-5 players on the team that are more important to the team than Vini.
I wouldn't be so quick to discredit the youtube video, these types of highlight compilations and video montages are the exact thing that had people thinking Hazard was primed and ready to go full super saiyan mode his entire Madrid career. By using the video to claim Vinicius hasn't developed his game beyond his teenage years you can then come to the conclusion the person probably doesn't have a clue.

Mr. Cool. One of the most strapping and handsome figures we've had as a part of the club. It pained me to see him not play for La Decima but he looked like a damn boss in that suit on the stands.
What the situation with his contract?he aint the same Vinicius like 2024 year and he should lower his demands or stay on same salary like current one
🚨 Vinicius Jr is the first player this season in Europe's top 5 leagues to have in a single match:- 1+ goal- 4+ chances created - 5+ dribbles completed. pic.twitter.com/5RlmIwFR2T— Madrid Universal (@MadridUniversal) October 4, 2025
The man got his goal, then got a penalty call and a second goal and THEHEN got a player sent off. You can't calculate the impact a player like this, it's not just "well I scored my goal so I did good" stuff - this is best player in the world by a country mile stuff. That penalty, too low, too much power so fast that it looks like the goalie guesses right and is gonna save it - then BAM! it pops up in the back of the net. #Unplayableplayers
Wish he could've bagged a hat trick but it's w/e. Best attacker by a large margin tonight and best player. Hope he keeps this up!
Has looked very compatible with Mbappe this season, but it will take more before the end of the “just play Rodrygo lol” stuff is played out. Too bad for the stinker midweek. Would’ve been nice to statpad, but he’s 5 goals and 4 assists in La Liga now. Good stuff.
Honestly, I feel many of us just focus on the positives and hope he regains his 2023/2024 level. While I did see a better version of him yeaterday, he still makes far too many poor decisions for an elite player. I’m not sure if it’s his position or his desire to catch up with Mbappe (or rather not remain in Mbappe’s shadow), he does mind-boggling things far too often. An elite player doesn’t trap himself between defenders where he easily loses the ball when he could have simply passed the ball earlier. At times, he would rather drifts away from goal toward the corner flag instead of playing a quick pass to Mbappe. I’m not saying he does this all the time, but that tends to be the case especially when Mbappe scores—or has scored recently. It’s as if he subconsciously doesn’t want to fall too far behind Mbappe in numbers. Now, Mastantuono and Rodrygo sometimes show the same tendencies, but their situations are different: the first is still too young with no experience, and the second is often a substitute trying to prove himself in limited minutes. But VJ is a Ballon d’Or-level player—he must do better, or we’ll suffer in big games. A recent example of how that could play out was Salah yesterday with all the shots that missed the target when he could have just crossed to his teammates. But at least Salah was trying to hit the target (even if he failed), and I’d take that over pointless dribbling when three defenders are blocking your way anyway.
Salah is the most selfish player I’ve ever seen. Dude’s automatic mode is shoot and shoot and shoot no matter what. It’s just that it’s more noticeable now because they are losing.
This was a younger Vini performance. He wore down the opposition over the course of the 70 minutes and chipped away at them. I thought he was quite good in tracking back and linking up to vary his play. He needs to be able to be the man for when Mbappe isn't firing on all cylinders.
More like he was the same as he always has been just that the guy defending him didn't defend him smart and Villarreal for some reason didn't defend him with two and pin him on the sideline like everyone else has found out as the primary way to stop Vinicius. This is what I mean by balance. People can't see that how teams play us impact how our performance outputs. They just think the player is supposed to magically do things they can't or isn't in their toolbox to do then get angry at them when they have struggles
I am glad that Vini had a good game. And props to his defensive effrort. But he still has a long way to go. His two goals were very fortunate to hit the back of the net. I am still worried that he can no longer dribble past his man unless he has had a half a turn head start.
Funny because I was at a game over the weekend and a former player was there with his girlfriend/wife and I said something like "you didn't expect it to be a biology teacher didn't you?" to the person that was there with me, as her appearance matched with the classic wag look. Bottom line I don't expect people that are very materialistic to construct their personal relationships in any other way.
