Where's the problem? We seem very fine with overpay so why throw a fit now?

We supported him as the best player in the world and made an entire campaign about it so why is it so staggering he wants to be paid like one?

Why even care what he makes? They attempt to penny pinch some areas and turn around and be loose with spending in others.

This might help explain why Carlo was forced out and Xabi was brought in. Flo wanted a puppet who would threaten to bench Vini in a world cup year if he didn't sign the contract and Carlo doesn't have the heart for that type of thing. Or more precisely Carlo has a heart.

Club is going to look like it is run by total imbiciles if he walks away on a free transfer next summer (possibly to PSG) and wins the World Cup and Balon d'Or on his way out.

He can’t walk away next summer. His contract is through 2027.

weren’t you hard on CR7 for his “muy triste” routine? This seems like the same thing, while at least CR7 delivered the goods, Vinny had a horrible last season.

    Are you okay?

Did Vinicius publicly claim to be sad or publicly say anything disparaging toward the club?

Also as an ex-athlete most here already know I believe the players should have the freedom to ask what they want. It's up to the club to determine if it's worth it. What Vini is asking isn't over what the club publicly valued him

No differently than Cristiano's request wasn't crazy...and I said as much.

It's not Vini's fault the club decided totally destroying the wage structure, unbalancing the squad and creating friction was all worth so long as Florentino "gets his man."

This is the fallout of that decision. Now the club has to pay up.

Four Atletico Madrid fans have been sentenced to PRISON for hanging a doll with Vini Jr's name on it from a bridge.

One of them was sentenced to 22 months, and the other 3 were sentenced to 14 months in prison. @GuillermoRai_

How stupid does one have to be to ruin his life over a football game/team/player that doesn't even know you exist.

Very true, based on last year he should be in the top 5 paid players in the club. Based on cumulative of last 3 seasons, maybe top 3.

The problem is that he thinks he’s deserving of being the highest paid player on the team, when reality is that he’s maybe top 5 in performance. That impasse is very large and a problem.

I told you that Vini should be sold while his price is still high and he is in demand....he is too predictable and seems to lost a bit of his pace which he was known for 2-3 years ago..getting 200M€+ for Vini and bringing for 60M€ Nico would be a really good deal

Well he may want to be the highest paid player on wages but let's also remember that Mbappe got to keep his image rights which is not a deal other players get.

That's a whole lot of money Mbappe takes off the table and stuffs into his pocket.

So there's that simple fact that Vini makes money for the club while Mbappe only takes money from it.

Then you get into that ridiculous 100ME signing bonus and it's completely justifiable that Vini and everyother player on the team wants to be fairly compensated if the club is not going to even try to hide the fact it is operating unfairly when it comes to who gets paid how much.

I don't know man, flaws and all, I enjoy watching him play. I want the game to have fun players and for all the headaches he can cause watching this circus of the unexpected unfold whenever he has the ball on his feet makes the game worth watching to me.

Vini’s bad season is what your average attacker only prays for. But he’s been extra clumsy and possibly played through minor discomforts vs Al-Hilal.

Ancelotti said he’s the most humble player he’s ever coached. That’s either sarcasm or genuinely high praise.

Xabi will see a lot of success if he gets Vini to fire on all cylinders. There’s so much upside to this player.

He's saving himself for the WC, he knows next summer will make or break his career at this point.

He knows Mbappe can't catch him at club level if they are on the same team but he can leapfrog Mbappe, Haaland, Yamal, etc., i.e. this whole generation IF he gets a trophy with Brazil.

We've seen it with players like Zidane who basically treated his last couple of seasons at Madrid as an early retirement only to slam on the gas and never downshift at the 2006 WC. I think I read a story with something similar about the Barca players back in 2010, that they played the 09/10 season focused on being ready for the WC.
