With the massive contract extension that Vini is about to sign, I'm really worried about him turning into "an albatross" at the club for the next few years.
Dude whats the deal here? He's a bit of a dummy but he's an absolutely magnificent player. Even the people that didn't see him as the best player on the planet last year, saw him as the second best, clearly this is an ELITE player. He's not perfect, and even if he can be immature and annoying, he's an incredible player for us all things considered. I'm not going to comment on the numbers cause we're not in those meetings to know the numbers, but there's a thinking here where you don't really get anything close at the same value spread across multiple years. Assuming he'll crash and burn is just peak negativity.
🚨 BREAKING: Viní Jr's La Liga season is OVER. @diarioas pic.twitter.com/lFrWAGOK7J— Madrid Zone (@theMadridZone) May 12, 2025 Vini out for the rest of the season. This team has been running on fumes.
Vini was playling like cocaine abuser Macron last year. He was so fast and energetic. This year he looks kinda depressed. It's weird.
I really want to see him and Mbappe succeed. I think the Bdo rally did a number on him and then seeing Mbappe come in and basically take over as Real's candidate for Bdo for the next 5 yrs. If he puts his head down and really lean into that supporting role, I think he can come back stronger. Can't wait to see what Xabi does with him.
And at the beginning of the season, it looked like Vini was showing Mbappe how its done. Aside from the Balon snub, I think Vini is hesitating and second guessing his movements on the pitch. Him and the turtle just tend to occupy the same spaces. And Mbappe being the more "space and ball dominant type" over Rodrygo is messing up with his natural insticts.
That final sentence is extremely relevant: they are both elite players and I refuse to believe that they can't work together. Very curious to see their partnership develop.
A good manager will figure this out. But I think at some point, one will have to take the Robin role while the other is Batman.
Clarity in terms of hierarchy typically helps. That's why I loved Benzema, a once in a generation talent that had all the reason to believe he was the best, but still had the clarity of mind to be realistic: Ronaldo was just that player. Extreme example of course, as we don't have the equivalent of Ronaldo on this team, but still. Very curious for next season.
Thats why I think Vini, after having his season as being a Cristiano, will have a hard time stepping into that Benzema role for the next few years. But in the long run, imo it will make him a better player.
I think he should focus on being the provider, as he's extremely, extremely, extremely good at that. I never expected that side of his game to develop like it did, caught me off guard. If I'm Vini, I'd be doing exactly that – focus on your strengths and let Mbappe focus on his too. It can work, but it requires a bit of rewiring.
Yes. He never really became an elite finisher, but he is such a headache on that wing. He could create chaos by just being aggressive as a play maker even if he scores less goals
He improved a lot over the years. But Mbappe should be that guy. BBC worked, with everyone doing what they knew how to do well. There's no reason for BMV not to work. Vini could become an assisting machine, he just has to accept a different role.
The manager can only do so much, it is up to the player to understand that he is not the best player in the team (I'm not even sure Vini is the 2nd best player).
For me it's either Vini, Fed or Fed then Vini as number 1 and 2 on the team. After that arguments can be made for several players Courtois, Bellingham, Mbappe, etc., are all important pieces. If he grabs the CL and WC next year we will have to call him WINicious and rename the award the Balicious Jun'ior.
🚨 Vinícius Jr. is the ONLY player in the top 5 leagues with 200+ successful dribbles and 200+ chances created since the 21/22 season. @statmusefc Monster. 🔥 pic.twitter.com/UgaRsfoF6a— Madrid Zone (@theMadridZone) May 13, 2025 And this was a down year - some hear would even swear he's washed up.
They want to sell him to Saudi, and move Rodrygo (another player they aren't happy with) to the left lol
I disagree about Mbappe being the best out of the two tbh. I've seen Vini win the ucl as the number 2 and and the number 1 choice. Some of those psg teams mbappe was on were pretty good and he couldn't push them over the edge. Also had one or two big lost chances in the final. I'm not saying one is clearly better than the other but I fully trust Vini to go back to his top top level next year.
