ESPN FC is campaigning pretty hard to give Rodri the Ballon D'Or over Vini Jr.

Please don’t project how things are in America as some sort of benchmark of how things should be in the rest of the world. America has lost (and I would argue never had) any moral high ground.

Each place is different…. different culture, history, and circumstances…. and should only be discussed in the context of itself.

Everyone deals with racism of one form or another everywhere. I certainly have. Vini needs to understand intent. Are the people truly malicious or just trying to say anything they can to get me off my game?

I’m sure he would cry “racism” in this case too, when it would come down to 2 things:
    - Rodri was exceptional and won the Euro and EPL
    - Bellingham and Vini are going to split some votes

Rodri was not even player of the year for his team, let alone his league

And for some reason got given best player in Euros and that alone is his claim

    This is a joke

    Yeah nah, for sure.

When a whole stadium is chanting "monkey" to him, it's only the non-racist ones who are doing it. They're just trying to throw him off his game. The racist ones would never chant "monkey" to a black player. That would never happen in Spain. /s

Here's a little tip for figuring out if something/someone is racist.

    >if X=shouting monkey chants @ Y (black player); then X=racist.

It doesn't matter what the intent is. They are insulting him on the basis of his skin colour.

Vini doesn’t need to understand anything. He needs to walk off the pitch next time this happens and everyone in our team needs to walk off with him. Then the club needs to exert pressure on the RFEF, the RFEF needs to pressure the policy makers and people need to be held accountable.

Where I don't agree with Vini is wording this whole thing as a catalyst for WC hosting being stripped away from Spain. He needs to be smarter with his words. Ultimately, a change can happen, but not overnight, and certainly not by making sensationalist statements like that.

Flo needs to step up and put pressure on the FA, as not if WHEN were forced to walk off the pitch. RM won’t be penalized. Time for Spanish Football to put their money where their mouth is.

So we are an impossible-to-reach benchmark who never had any high ground? Thanks for the astute insight, frenchie, and the lesson on nihilistic universal cultural relativism.

America was never a benchmark to begin with... other than in their own minds. If you actually spend any time at all in other parts of the world, you'll realize the delusion most American people live in. I'm American, so we're clear.

In the past, America was admired for certain aspects. For example, it's economic success, military might and media. But a general benchmark for how to behave? Not for a long time. Maybe for a brief period after WW2... but that ended quickly.

If Real Madrid walks off the pitch, the game is forfeited, the default score would be 3-0 AND there would be sanctions from FIFA, UEFA and La Liga.

    Just so everyone understands.

Stop being a f-in pu$$y and fight through the nonsense. I swear... society is becoming so soft. What's worse, it's apparently ok to be a whiny little b-tch.

So the society is getting soft, and Vinicius is a whiny little bitch. Racism happens but there's no racists - they're just trying to get under Vini's skin. You also don't approve of Vinicius fighting this the way he is, your idea of fighting it is that he should just ignore it.

You sir are a natural born problem solver. How did nobody else think of that? You're also a manly man. Not like these "pu$$ies". You're a hard man. Unlike this soft, pathetic society. Good for you.

Now, what I actually think is that if you had whole stadiums racially abusing you, you'd roll over, cry and be in therapy for the rest of your life. But sure, go ahead and posture like a 12 year old.

Maybe check your carbon monoxide alarm battery.

I would love for something new to be introduced to this discussion but there isn't. International break unfortunately means stupid discussions.

The fact that we're recycling the same discussion over and over and nothing new gets brought to the table. The moderators then need to comb through all this stuff to make sense of it.

I know you're looking for a gotcha moment here but this unfortunately won't be it.

What I was trying to convey is whether Spain or La Liga has done enough to stop racism. There may be many cases of racism, but we have significant countries that are taking sufficient measures to combat it.

It's a bit unrealistic to expect major changes in human behavior overnight. It typically takes years of not generations. So to look at "kneeling" or symbolic gestures alike as pointless just because it hasn't solved a deep rooted problem is a bit ignorant.

It's funny because people keep doing this "gestures" and at the same time, they say things keep only getting worse. If things keep getting worse, shouldn't they change their approach?

Or at least stop complaining a bit since nothing will change in their lifetime, as you said.

Behavior has changed in certain aspects over time. People don’t go around calling each other retards or gay slurs or making obvious sexual
    Jokes to women

People call it “woke culture” but it is an improvement on behavior whether it is genuine or out of fear of public shaming.

That’s what @celito was referring to
