The masses need their heroes and villains. They need a stories and reasons to hate people and cheer people on... some think they are above it but cater to it unknowingly.
I think that Nike is making a huge mistake in not prioritizing Vini in their marketing (if indeed that is the case). I've always imagined an ad that goes something like: Voice over: authoritarian voice over or famous quote about the game becoming more physical, tactical, and focused on control. [Images of a team pressing hard and physically. They force their opponent back with strong play until finally the team with the ball is forced to just boot it toward their opponents end. As this happens the image desaturates and darkens a bit] Voice over: Because ultimately no one can beat the syste... [Opposition player chases the ball down in the corner. Two defenders converge nearly obscuring the chasing player. The image fades almost to black with only the area with the players still visible. Suddenly you see the ball fly over the converging defenders rainbow flick-stye and Vini bursts between them. Color instantly returns and he cuts, flicks, and stepovers into the box before scoring] Final text. Vive Joga Bonita. So if you're out there, Nike, call me. I've got a whole slew of other ideas for Vini including a high concept mini-series involving a shady anti-football fun agency and a persecuted Ronaldinho passing on his legacy.
🚨🌕| Nike are fighting to keep Vini Jr, they’ve offered him more money & protagonism, but Vini hasn’t been convinced yet. @UOLEsporte #rmalive— Madrid Zone (@theMadridZone) December 8, 2022 🚨🌕| Adidas, Puma have made initial contacts with Vini Jr, they could offer him ten times more than his current earnings. Nike doesn’t want to lose him & are trying everything. @UOLEsporte— Madrid Zone (@theMadridZone) December 8, 2022
It happened a lot in other sports. Brothers turned into feuds, I can think of a few NBA cases. McGrady and Carter, Marbury and Garnett, etc were a few examples. Kobe perhaps was never a friend of Shaq, but they probably didn't dislike each other as much as they were being portrayed. I don't care for Kyrie and LeBron. It seemed less in soccer.
TLDR version- Vini wants more money and attention, and now he’s in a position to demand both while Nike keeps shunning him somehow so he’s breaking the contract.
Now THIS is what you change representation for, let's get it Vini, personally I don't care what kind of shoes he plays in but I feel very good about seeing our guys get paid.
Os racistas seguem indo aos estádios e assistindo ao maior clube do mundo de perto e a @LaLiga segue sem fazer nada… Seguirei de cabeça erguida e comemorando as minhas vitórias e do Madrid. No final a culpa é MINHA. 🤙🏿 pic.twitter.com/5ztuTjP4s6— Vini Jr. (@vinijr) December 31, 2022
Javier Tebas (La Liga president) replying to Viní Jr: “In La Liga, we have been fighting against racism for years. It’s very unfortunate, unfair & untrue to publish that ‘La Liga does nothing against racism.’ Get better information.”— Madrid Xtra (@MadridXtra) December 31, 2022 Tebas absolutely shameless. Yeah, one way to fight racism is to criticize the victim of racist abuse.
Why are you shocked? We have people on this forum who think it should be acceptable because it is common. Tebas is no different as you can see from his tone. However let it be an insult to his native region and he will lose his mind and demand justice. The worst part about people is the hypocrisy where you can't even try to understand others. I get we all make mistakes. That is part of understanding. However for people like Tebas they love to kill everyone they don't like for their mistakes, magnifying every incident... all the while they're merciful and forgiving to those they do like. So lenient and endearing. It's pathetic
The La Liga president election is due end of 2023 Hopefully, we have someone younger and hungry and willing to make changes for the good of the league and it’s players, that such racism is taken much much more serious than what that tosspot does now.
37 or 38 clubs took CVC deal for which Tebas is earning millions in commission. They are not voting him out. Spain and Italy are two supposedly developed countries where corruption, racism etc have no consequences. Villar, Tebas, Rubiales all at the top despite getting exposed for corruption.
While I understand defending your organization, at least address the issue. Dude didn’t even acknowledge it. Didn’t even mention the racism, just attacked Vini. that’s some trump level shit
I remain optimistic humanity is progressing for the positive, albeit at a painfully slow pace and at times 2 steps backwards… and there is a very long way to go still, we have a complicated history as a species. Maybe one day victim blaming will be a thing of the past. Hard though in the moment not to get pissed off by this garbage or just plain hurt. All that said, Vini has done a very impressive job with his statements at such a young age. We have to protect our guys more… the club needs to step up, enough of this silence.
I just don’t understand racism Really makes no sense to me. I understand other human flaws why people steal Sell drugs Cheat on their spouse Etc there is something gained from all those behaviors. Racism is the lowest of flaws imo
it’s dumb and bad but humans are tribal and innately favor people who look like them so I never find it terribly surprising and if you’re a loser standing in a crowd it’s a way for you to perceive some superiority in your pathetic self over the superstar on the field
Starting 2023 with a bang: Florentino's political affiliations are leaning soft right. He's an incredible president but we'd be more disappointed than glad to know his unfiltered thoughts on the matter. Nothing will change in Spain, other than the targets of abuse. If you look at many comment sections on Spanish dailies, a lot of comments (including from local Madrid fans) are calling Vinicius too soft etc.
