Help me out here, this is what I have so far...

    -------------Kirovski----Casey

    Lewis--------Obrien-----Reyna------Thorinngton

    Barrett------Vanney----Berhalter-------Sanneh

    ------------------Friedel

    others:
    Oneywu
    Gibbs
    Keller
    Hahnemann
    Walker

I can't think of any right footed center backs.

I guess we'll use "Europe" loosely and let Walker on the team, although you really don't need a fourth goalie, so you should probably just choose one from Hahnemann-Cannon-Walker.

And you REALLY need to put Cherundolo on your team. You'd probably even consider playing Sanneh elsewhere to start Stevie C.

Since you need more reserve field players, I'd submit that Grover Gibson can be a backup striker, and if I'm trying to win today rather than play for the future, I probably still take David Regis.

    So, a revised 18-man squad:

    -------------Kirovski----Casey

    Lewis--------Obrien-----Reyna------Sanneh

    Barrett------Vanney----Berhalter-------Cherundolo

    ------------------Friedel

    others:
    Oneywu
    Gibbs
    Keller
    Hahnemann
    Gibson
    Regis
    Thorrington

Probably don't need three keepers on an 18-man squad, but Marcus deserves a little love.

I thought Obrien is a LeftBack?

For Ajax, yes. But he is also probably our best or second-best option in the middle of the field. Most of his US appearances, including a little game you might remember from last June, have been as a midfielder. You could put him at left back on the full US squad and lose less, but if you're restricting yourself to Europe-based US players, it doesn't make much sense to put him there when that's the natural position of Barrett, Vanney, and Regis.

Move Sanneh to center (when he heals) and put Cherundolo on Right. Keep Vanney LB. I think it'd be great fun to play an Euro/MLS nat friendly, for the heck of it.

    Forgot about Cherundolo, silly me....

Not long ago we could have fielded a Euro based team with many more options.

Not sure who would win the Euro vs MLS nats game. When healthy the Euros clearly have a better midfield and obvious advantage in goal.

The MLS team has better forwards

    all MLS team:

    ----------Donovan-----McBride

    Beasley---------Convey--------------Klein/Stewart
    ---------------Mastroeni/Armas

    Bocanegra-----Agoos---Pope------Hejduk

    ---------------Howard

Don't kill me on the Agoos selection. All he has to do is contend with Kirovksi and Casey. Not too worried about him....

I actually think the MLS team may win because of the Forwards. I really don't see the Euro team scoring any goals.

I'd say the MLS team kicks a@@ in this game. How these guys not on that other team is beyond me.

The MLS side is more interesting up front, but I'm not sold on Convey in the middle yet. Maybe play LD there with McBride and Wolff or Cunningham running off them. That's more interesting. Pitting the Euro midfield of a healthy JOB/Reyna/Lewis/Thorrington(Cherundolo) against DMB/LD/Armas/Stewart is more intriguing in my mind. (or move Stewart to the A-mid spot and play DMB/Stewart/Armas(Pablo)/Klein with LD up front with McHead)
