WE NEED YOU . We need to help SUpport are team, we need to make this an actual home game for are boys, if thats possible, and im asking all the us fans to join, La Norte, Yanks Army, Sams Army, and hopefully the rest of US supporters. If youre interested in tickets email me at Dc_united10@hotmail.com or just post on US soccer boards. We need everyone there. Imagine having all the supporters from the league throwing it down and making RFK rock for are boys. ooooooooohhhhhhhhhh Lets Go USA, UUUUUUUUSSSSSSaaaaaa, UsAAAAAAAA Lets Go USA
First of all, I don't have a clue to what you are referring to and second, I'm not sure we'll ever have a home game against a Western Hemisphere nation in D.C. unless its Canada.
Apparently it's a Nov 17th friendly between the USMNT and El Salvador that this poster is referring to.
There is nothing apparent about the request. The US does play El Salvador in a friendly, and there are many fears in metro DC that 90 percent of the crowd will be supporting El Salvador.
Go have a wank. Let's stick it to US Soccer Federation by letting it be a 100% pro-El Salvador crowd. Then maybe they'll get the hint. What am I saying? They won't.
Re: Re: All Crew Fans First and last international game that I went to in DC was against Honduras last fall. I remember coming out of the subway, only to be surrounded by thousands of Honduran fans (most of them American nationals!). When will US Soccer learn that DC is NOT a good place to have a match between US and ANY Hispanic team!
Re: Re: Re: All Crew Fans They won't learn. What they have learned is that they'll sell 60,000 tickets to El Salvador fans. From a business perspective, they're not stupid. Unfortunately, they don't give a $#!T about the players, coaches, staff, and fans who allow them to have jobs themselves. What I want to know, is that you would think the Federation would sit down with Bruce Arena, and say something along the lines of "who do you want your friendlies against, and where?" I highly doubt there is an Athletic Director, college or high school, in the U.S. who doesn't ask his coaches who they want their non-conference games against. The U.S. fans need to take this opportunity to voice their displeasure by a) writing/calling US Soccer and b) refusing to buy tickets to this crap. All US Soccer is doing is embarrasing the team and themselves. Joe Casual fan will see the 0-3 scoreline in Monday's paper and say "the World Cup was a fluke, they still suck, they lost at home, I hate soccer, etc." I'm usually a pretty mild-mannered guy, but fvck the U.S. Soccer Federation.
Re: Re: Re: All Crew Fans The purpose of friendlies is not to win, not to create home field advantage, but sell as many tickets as possible. I don't think you'll see a game that counts in DC anymore (well, given the USSF's track record, that's probably not true).
Re: Re: Re: Re: All Crew Fans Thinking about it again, I'm pretty sure you're correct. When is the last time a game that meant anything was played in LA? It just sucks that we have to wait 2 years before we find out if USSF will give us home field advantage for home games when we are making the qualifying run for Germany 2006.
Re: Re: Re: All Crew Fans Well, I guess people would moan if the only places to host USMNT matches were Foxboro, Columbus and Seattle/Portland.
I think playing El Salvador is a waste of time anyways. We went from doing great in the World Cup and really having something to build on, back to playing El Salvador in front of 60,000 migrant workers. We deserve a bit better.
You guys are really getting upset at nothing. First of all, RFK is only 50k capacity, secondly the most the sallies will get is 70/30, absolute worst case scenario. They might take the upper tier, but we'll have a presence in the lower bowl. The Honduras match was 50/50, they weren't THAT many of them(unless you were on some Honduran train). 3-0 to El Salvador? Please. We're going to rip the sallies a new one. They might edge us out in the stands, but we'll kick their ass all over the pitch. I agree the feds really ************ed this one up royal, but you HAVE to support the nats. Bring banners degrading the fed, chant anti-fed slogans, whatever. Just BE THERE!!! Don't be a ***************, C-bus.
What the hell are sallies? It doesn't matter if you have the lower bowl. They'll just throw stuff from the upper decks like Guatemala did.
WHOOPS IM SORRY I didnt know that coulbus doesnt support their country, i should post this on a real soccer city, that actually supports thier coutry, USA
Is this quote for real or is is just something you made up? You mean to tell me that, because people here aren't falling all over themselves for a totally meaningless friendly against an opponent about which nobody cares, that you think we don't support our country? If that's the case, then you're an even bigger idiot than I initially thought when you came in here soliciting support without letting people know about which match you were talking. Do everyone here a favor - take Buffalo guy and go away. If people want to go to RFK they'll make it out there; they surely don't need prodding from you two.
Flashback for ya, pal. February 2002. US vs Mexico, in Crew stadium. PACKED ************ing house. You were saying something about Columbus NOT supporting their country? Leave the Crew boards quickly before Bill Archer gets an opportunity to rip you.
Why are you guys wasting valuable drinking time arguing with this loon? "You know when I drink alone, I prefer to be by myself..."
this is a good point. the salvadoran community in DC shows up and makes noise when the galaxy are in town because of a fellow salvadoran named cienfuegos. it's one of the reasons ray hudson and dave kasper went after eliseo quintinilla, who attracted "about 100" fans and autograph seekers at his tryout. some friendlies are significant, like when bruce gave pablo and about five others their first caps against ecuador in 2001. but this meaningless friendly is set up to sell tickets to salvadorans. yes it does -- we're a little busy right now. i say if we can contain hernandez and keep someone tight on twellman, we'll win this series. if taylor gets even half a chance, he'll punish us. i also suspect that the first team to score in the series will win it. if we score first, we'll win it in two, if the revs score first, they'll probably pull it off in three but could finish us off in two as well. i think this whole series will come down to the d-mids.
