So, no real purpose to this, but thought it would be fun to put together "all continent" teams, given all the great international talent MLS has. Got creative and combined Africa, Oceania & Asia since there were not enough players in every position. Also moved some folks out of their natural positions for that same reason. Africa, Oceania & Asia team: GK: Condoul D: Oughton, Boyens, Gbandi, Ihemelu (although he may have American citizenship now) M: Casal, Ngwenya, Ballouchy, Kimura F: Kamara, Kpene North America team: GK: Reis D: Boswell, Conrad, Pope, Suarez M: DeRo, Donovan, Joseph, Reyna F: Twellman, Ching South America team: GK: Sala D: Erpen, Gonzalez, Toja, M: Gomez, Schelotto, Marinelli, Thiago F: Emilio, Angel, J. Moreno Europe team: GK: Waterreus D: Robinson, Dyachenko, Schopp M: Cooke, Beckham, O'Brien, Dorman, Kovalenko F: Daglish, Dichio Any others? My money's on the North American team. Reason number 38825 why I love MLS...cultivates home grown talent, yet is still a melting pot of international players as well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_current_MLS_players#O
Casal was born in England, grew up, went to school there, has an London accent and holds a UK passport. How does this make him African? Because his parents are? Hello Freddy Adu....hello...Oguchi Onyewu.
Casal has dual Nigerian and British citizenship and has played with the Under 20 nigeria national team, and I believe he wants to continue playing for Nigeria.
Um, capped for the Nigerian U20s. 2006: A dual citizen of England and Nigeria, Casal played with the Nigerian U-20 Men's National team in an African Nations qualifier against Rwanda in September. 2005: Casal was called-up to the Nigerian U-20s for the Under-20 World Cup in June.
Sorry Jade. There is still a chance that if he keeps improving and gets the right offers that he could play for England as a full international and you were right about his place of birth and upbringing.
nice work putting together the clubs, I'd take South America to win a tournament between the sides though (unless Erpen put in some own goals). MLS doing a great job in that region, esp. Argentina. Also, MLS could stand to improve a lot in the Africa/Asia/Oceania department... that is a pretty weak side.
