yeah huge props to Ivan for coming back to the tailgate and hanging with us. i know some folks don't like his play, but he is truly a classy guy. he is always very concerned about the fans and always has time to chat. i have been to numerous events with him and he always takes time to talk to fans. for those of you with salvadoran phobia, i have never been to football match with such a boring, dead crowd. completely calm, friendly and funny. in fact, several guys--both Honduran and Salvadoran--thanked us for coming out. the Barra contingent, just 5 strong and no stake in the game, was actually the loudest group and the only one singing. perhaps the biggest shock was CSC was actually cool. we snuck over to 135 and they came over and laughed at us, calling us "crazy muthaf#¤cker" and not tossing us until the game was over. i still question their intelligence as Chico offered the guy $40 for his CSC hat and he didn't take it. i hope i see everyone next week at the happy hour and the pre-game tailgate.
Ivan is a great guy. If he stops by another tailgate when I'm there I'll thank him again for the jersey he gave me.
Boring game, although the last-minute heroics were entertaining. It was also somehow satisfying that the Salvadorans didn't win. Anyone who stayed home for fear of the crowd look silly, as it resembled a church picnic more tha a riot.
So much for all the hype. Game was not real exciting though it was fun to watch at times. Both sides fans were cool and friendly. Like Red and Black and Chico said one of the top highlights was meeting Ivan. It was great to have him hang with us after the game. Ivan had plenty of good things to say about DC's fans and he filled us in about United's trip to White Hart Lane. Great day out with a couple of my favorite "locos." I can't wait to cheer on United next week with the full Barra.
