I hope Wenger keeps JA at Highbury. He is a great option should the yellow/red card disease or even worse, the injury bug hits the squad (god forbid!!) At most, maybe a short loan with a clause for immediate call-back when needed.

BTW, I think he will get even more time this season as cover for bergie and reyes.

I like the kid. He shows a lot of potential, but if:

"The French forward is desperate for regular action, according to respected sports newspaper L'Equipe"

then he needs to stop being injured all the time so we can actually play him :)

To be honest I wouldnt believe too much of what the French press says, they often get it wrong. Its not a cold hard fact until it appears in The Sun :D

He's all potential & i'm beginning to wonder whether or not he'll actually make it here. I saw him in a France U21 vs Brazil U21, and he didn't really impress there either. In the Premiership games he has played this season he rarely looks like he's gotten to grips with the pace of the game and his touches are errant. Once the pace (& pressure?) reduces he looks like a good player, he seems to be accomplished (read decent) at just about everything he doesn't have exceptional pace or power but technically he's a good player. He's in the Schevchenko mould but obviously not as good.

Loan him out to either St.Etienne or Ajax.

I would definately loan him out and see if the potential is truly there to develope into a star forward and if not at least you'll know. Jeramie is NOT going to start over Reyes or Van Persie. They are older and more experienced with top flight football and AFC spent a few pounds on them, so it only makes sense.

It will be interesting in a year or 2, how Jeramie Aliadiere has progressed.

Can't loan him out right now. He's cover for up front. I would expect that Aliadiere, Bergkamp, and Reyes will all get time with Henry up front.

From what I saw last year, the kid has got a good game. Although a loan spell (and more consistent playing time) would probably do him some good, the only way I see him go out on loan is if Wenger brings in an experienced striker to cover up front.

    uhhmmm Van Persie...?

Anyway I think a loan spell at Ajax would do him a hell of good, not to mention CL experience..

I thought that van Persie was going to be used primarily on the wing?

Nope, Wenger bought him as the long-term replacement for Bergkamp.

Reyes will probably be switched to the wing..

He is the only real cover for Henry, he's the only out and out striker we have. All the others like to play just off the front in the Bergkamp mould.

Note to Wenger: If Aliadiere's on the bench and we're 3-0 up, take off Henry and put him on to give him some experience and confidence as well as giving Henry a rest. It's the only way to find out if he's good enough and shouldn't endanger the result!

To be fair I expect him to get more time off the bench this season as wasters like Kanu and Wiltord won't be in the way.

I would like to see him get a consistent run of 1st team football and that's just not going to happen at Arsenal for him unless things go very wrong for someone else. At best, he's the #4 striker behind TH, DB, JAR, and he could be even further down the pecking order if RvP is playing there. A short term loan could do a world of good. That said, I don't think Wenger would send someone out on loan who has injury problems, and this kid has had his share. It's a bit of a dilema.

If we don't purchase another striker and he does go out on a recallable loan, he won't be playing in the CL and getting cup-tied. The only way he'd do this is if we loaned him out for the entire season.

I agree & disagree. We have no idea where he'll play RvP yet, but I do think he's gonna played up front as a Bergkamp type player. He'll probably get some time on the wing as well as cover for Pires.

As for Reyes, Wenger may have a bit of the "total football" approach in him, but he consistently played him as a striker in his first 6 months. I don't think he would've done this if he was picturing him as winger for the long-term. I think he's very clearly trying to pull another Henry conversion from winger to striker. His quality pace, technique and shooting ability all point to the potential to be a mirror image on Henry. It's nice that he can also play the Bergkamp role, but his size and lack of strength (especially compared to RvP) make him better suited to being a striker who drifts to wings (like Henry).

Both Reyes & RvP can play the wing (which is nice), but I don't think either of them is the long-term replacement for Pires. Then again, if the transfer market or youth system gives us another option up front (say Bentley earns the spot as DB's replacement), then one of these guys will find themselves on the wing more often (if not exclusively). I just don't think that's where they'll end up this season, especially Reyes.

I would see Reyes as a replacement for Fred on the right if he were to go. He could cut in on his left foot and affect the play, much as Pires does from the left. With those two on the wings it really would be a total football type deal with Henry and Bergkamp playing up front.

Could Arsenal be looking at a 4-3-3 sort of formation with Reyes and Van Persie flanking Henry? Players who can play both winger and striker seem to be in vogue right now.

I think we're going to play "The Flying V" from the Mighty Ducks.

Surely you jest. To do that, we would need an out and out Forward to play in the middle. Witness the differing fortunes of Holland (who have van Nisteldive) and Denmark, who played 4-3-3 yesterday against the Czech Republic featuring a talented and natural withdrawn striker in JD Tomassen in the main forward role.

Henry and Reyes are certainly not going to be feeding JA or an aging Berkamp. van Persie? Don't know enough to say, so perhaps in the future.

I don't think that JA will be out on loan to anyone. Even with Van P coming, JA is still one of the top players in a backup role. I'm sure that he would get more time with another team, but the role he plays is still crucial for the Gunners and I don't think Wenger will let him go. I'd give him a year and if he doesn't see time then maybe he should chose to move on.

The permutations are truly mind-boggling trying to accomodate all of the youngsters. I'm inclined to agree that the time Reyes put in at striker is an investment in his future role there, and if last season was a true indicator, Bentley could be Freddie's replacement  Personally, though, I'd like to see Reyes tried a la Overmars and give Ali/RvP a run-out alongside Henry.

You areall forgetting our other striker the one we bought for 10 million step forward Franny Jeffers.I think Bentley will be the next DB10 providing he does well with Norwich. This season may see Pires either rested more or playing more centrally, with Van Persieon the left.We also have another option for the left in Clichy,he is a great player but will not replace Ashley so perhaps he will used further fwd.Oh to hell with it I am getting a headache thinking about who can play where,I will leave Arsene to sort it out while I sit back and enjoy the spectacle.
