    Aliadiere out 5 months?

Reported on the Arsenal mailing list:

JA has been keeping a groin strain secret from the club's doctors, now it might keep him out for much of the season. Will likely require surgery.

But that does mean more possible PT for Jeffers and Pennant.

Oh god this is terrible news. When I saw him come on against Birmingham City I could see there was something special about this lad...

Oh well I guess it'll give us some time to perfect the pronunciation of his last name for when he returns to the first team...

What the hell is going on in training? the season has just started and everyones bailing on the first team.

Oh by the way, I've completely given up on Frannie Jeffers... I don't even know why he's being kept around. Why was Inamoto let go while that useless turd is left warming the subs bench?

Where is this coming from? There's nothing in the media about this at all.

It's exactly like I said. "Reported on the Arsenal mailing list." If I had to do it over again I'd put a question mark in the subject line, but the guy who posted it is very reliable.

    More detail

Now someone else has posted details on the same list:

Aliadiere was recently called up by France's U-21 team, the Espoirs (presumably for the match on Sept. 6 against the Cyprus U-21s although the post doesn't say so). Aliadiere initially begged off, telling them he had a groin strain. But the FFF exerted its influence and told him to travel with the team, and Aliadiere agreed to go, perhaps because he hadn't played in a friendly in late August against Iceland and didn't want to miss being with the squad for two consecutive games.

Anyway, Aliadiere didn't just travel, he played. I don't know if he started, but he lasted for just 30 minutes, aggravated his injury, then came off.

By the way, after doing some digging, I found another place where this was mentioned, the message boards on the Arsenal World website. One post even has details in article form, although the source isn't mentioned:

    Original source

Heard from the original poster and he said it was reported on ITV's Teletext channel "early this evening."

I've seen another mention that changes the time off estimate to between 2 and 5 months, so it may not be as serious as originally feared.

Wenger says it's a suspected hernia and they will have to examine it further.
