Anyone else gonna be goofing off at work and following the match instead?
    :D

We play Sweden in another 45 minutes.

So far the US is leading Group A with four points. Both Sweden and Canada have two points a piece and Norway is pulling up the rear with one point.

    Let's hope MatchTracker works today!

Norway is leading Canada right now 1-0. Don't know how much time is left in the match though. If Norway wins, the US is into the final match with either a win or draw against Sweden today.

    EDIT

The Norway v Canada match is over. Norway wins 1-0 on a Dagny goal in the 39th minute.

    Starting lineup for the US:
    Siri
    Pearce
    Chastain
    Fawcett
    Sobs
    TR
    Foudy
    Wagner
    Lilly
    Mia
    Tiff

Thanks, Fear. I can't get matchtracker to load once again. Previously if it did load it would only load the players. Everything else said "loading." But it never happened.

I imagine this is our #1 lineup, don't you think? At least until Slaton returns to speed.

Ad I hope the Aleve starts working.

With the exception of one midfield position. TR is getting her first start (actually her first playing time) of the tourney. I think that she, Fair and Hucles are all in contention for the R or D mid position. I wonder if Roberts or Foudy is on the right or at D mid.

It's good to see Millbrett back up top with Mia.

I thought the exact same thing. It's good to see Siri get a start, as well.

That's my guess and I agree with grendel with regards to TR. She is probably on the bubble for the starting lineup.

When Slaton does come back...who does she bump off the backline?

In the second minute the US wins a corner and Mia goes to take it. The US also records it's first shot on goal by Brandi. "Chastain shoots high off the corner."

According to MatchTracker both teams are in a 4-4-2.

Given Slaton's knee situation, I'd imagine a rotation of Danielle, Sobs and Pearce.

Weather in Portugal is 59 F, cloudy, winds 15mph.

A whole lot better than Sunday.

Yeah, you're right. For some reason I thought TR started the Canada game. And I guess when I saw Fair in the Norway game, I thought TR. I guess they're sort of interchangeable in my mind.

I'd like to know which position Foudy is playing too.

And I think Scurry is going to be our #1 keeper

So I don't know where my brain is this morning. Time for another cup of coffee.

Well, I think the only space that's really open for negotiation on the backline is right back. The players that come to mind over there are Reddick, Pearce, and Benson.

US foul leads to a long freekick for Sweden which Siri is able to snag easily.

    Sweden fouls 40 yards out.

Fouls: US 1 and Sweden 1.

Sweden I am assuming with a chance but Siri snags it.

We are now in the 6th minute and MatchTracker says US is controlling possession "but nothing threatening yet."

US notches foul #2 in "dangerous position" in the 7th minute. "Ten yards from the right corner of their penalty area".

"Ball flies through the penalty area, but Sweden can't get a shot off. They hold possession."

8:40 shot by Malin Andersson 35 yards out. Nada.

Fouls for US 2 and Sweden 1.

So far both teams have only had one shot. Brandi in the 2nd minute and Andersson in the 8th minute.

Wait. Sweden with another shot by Hanna Ljungberg. She beats Chastain from 40 yards from goal and takes a shot but it goes high.

US called for a hand ball outside the box. Cleared.

Supposedly Sweden has been controlling the ball the past couple of mins.

Whew...Sweden cross flies across the box and Pearce is there to head it and Mullinix makes the grab.

We are now in the 14th minute and Sweden called for a foul at midfield.

    ----------

For anyone else following on MatchTracker I have both teams at two fouls a piece. Am I right or wrong?

Sweden has had two shots to the US's one so far.

    Ssiri bvs. Bri

I suspect you are right, but i think Siri should be #1. She reads the other team's offense better than any gaolie i have seen, has a great boot, and funtions almost like a fifth back at times.

What has Bri got that is better?

In the 15th minute the US wins a corner that is taken by Hamm. Corner goes to Foudy who heads it straight at the Sweden GK. Easy save for her.

The US uses it's first sub of the match. Parlow in for Millie. Millie has been nursing a hamstring injury.

Parlow just won the US's third corner of the match in the 17th minute.

    US 1:0 Sweden

Goal Aly Wager. Pearce headed the ball in and Sweden headed it out right to Wagner at the top left of the 18. Takes a shot with her right foot from 19 yards out and goes to right corner of the goal.
