Just a thread to post all of the results etc...

    Canada 1 USA 1

I just noticed the other Algarve Cup thread. Perhaps a moderator could merge the two threads? I didn't want to post any results in a thread that doesn't have a [R]

    Féminine A : Algarve Cup

For the non-francophones, here's a summary in English:

    France 3 Denmark 0

Marinette Pichon scored twice for France in the second half as France beat Denmark 3-0 in the first game of Group B

Stéphanie Mugneret-Béghé opened the scoring for France after 14 minutes with a powerful strike.

Marinette extended the lead in the 58th Minute and extended the lead in the 85th minute striking the ball in the net from 20 metres.

Which means France is atop group B with 3 points  And all of their goals came from WUSA contracted players.

Not surprising about the France-Denmark game. France has really gotten their number of late. The China score is to be ignored. Finland plays fine but China surely will bounce back. It's good to see that Sweden and Norway playing to a draw. Sweden must be getting better because Norway had practically a full lineup. It looks like a good tournament so far despite the draws.

i'm going to give this thread a sticky, and have this as the "official" thread to post all results/game discussions about algarve cup etc.

group a is all tied up...same scores and goals...now goal differential the next few games for them will be key!!

As much as I would like to get a free beer I think you're right. It's rather Hanna Marklund than Kate Sobrero playing in a swedish jersey :)

    Re: Re: Algarve Cup [R]

Actually, the first tie-breaking criterion is head-to-head results. Goal difference is second.

Any win now is very important, since nobody can finish with better than 2 wins and a draw.

Any team that wins in the next match will be almost guaranteed at least 2nd place in the group's final standings.

    can-swe

in the 85th minute, canada and sweden are tied 1-1. no clue who scored and when. there should be lots of stoppage time because there was a huge delay to chase a dog from the field...

COME ON CANADA!! we need the 3 pts and goal differential to help us in group a standings...

    FINAL SCORE: Canada 1 - Sweden 1

can't really read into that unless we know how we played, and whether we domminated and couldn't score, or we were lucky to squeak out with a tie.

what's with all the 1-1 draws??? lol
