Snip: Smith's contract ends on January 19, and Herbert admits to being impressed with his performance, despite a couple of weeks off with a foot injury earlier this month. "He's better coming from behind the ball as an attacking midfield player, and I think he's capable of scoring goals. I've been very impressed with him." Smith himself, discarded by Gold Coast United before the season even began, isn't looking too closely at the possibility of a full-time contract. "That's the goal, but I've just got to keep playing well and that side of things usually takes care of itself," he said. http://sport.msn.co.nz/sportnews/soccer/8393832/phoenix-fill-in-eyes-full-time-football
Smith went a full 90 for Wellington today in a 5-2 win over Newcastle. He's been floating between d-mid and striker recently but has been earning rave reviews at both positions. His contract runs through mid January but someone will pick him up.

Smith's contract with Wellington expires Tuesday. He impressed club officials but will now have to wait to see if they offer him a long-term deal. It'll be tricky because of foreign roster limits in the A-League
