    What does this mean?
Its simple, Scott is Kelly Smith's girlfriend and this trade can only mean that Smith will sign with Boston really soon. DiCicco is building a powerhouse in Boston.

CHICAGO RED STARS TRADE ALEX SCOTT TO BOSTON, SWAP DRAFT POSITIONS

    Friday, January 16, 2009
    By: Chicago Red Stars
St. Louis, MO (January 15, 2009) - The Chicago Red Stars have executed their first-ever trade, dealing the WPS playing rights to English defender Alex Scott to the Boston Breakers, along with the Red Stars 6th and 10th round picks, in exchange for Boston's 2nd and 4th round picks in today's 2009 WPS Draft, General Manager Marcia McDermott announced Thursday. The acquisition of Boston's 14th and 28th overall picks means the Red Stars will enter today's draft holding seven of the first 30 selections, including four of the top 16 picks. "We have significantly improved our draft position as a result of this move," explained McDermott. "We feel there is value in the first four rounds, and we are now poised to take advantage of our improved position."
The Red Stars acquired Scott's playing rights on September 26th, 2008 via the WPS international discovery process. Despite releasing the English right back, the Red Stars continue to hold the playing rights to five international players, including Brazilian striker Cristiane, Australian midfielder Heather Garriock, English forward Karen Carney, and the Swedish duo of midfielder Frida Östberg and goalkeeper Caroline Jönsson.
The 2009 WPS Draft, being held today at the NSCAA Convention in St. Louis, is a 10-round draft. Players eligible to be drafted include those who participated in either the WPS West Coast Combine or the WPS East Coast Combine. It also includes players who will have just completed their NCAA eligibility, as well as any other undrafted players whose rights have not yet been assigned to a WPS team.
The Boston Breakers, who hold the first overall pick in the draft, revealed last night their intention to exercise that pick by selecting Amy Rodriguez. Rodriguez, a senior forward at USC, was a member of the US Women's National team that won the gold medal in Beijing in 2008.
With the first pick accounted for, all eyes are on the Chicago Red Stars who will pick second. For complete 2009 WPS Draft coverage, log on to http://fancorner.womensprosoccer.com to view real-time draft updates via Twitter, beginning at 10:30am ET (9:30am CT).
The Red Stars kick off the 2009 WPS season on April 5th on the road against St. Louis Athletica at Ralph Korte Stadium on the campus of Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville. Following a second road game against the Washington Freedom on April 11th, the Red Stars will play their home-opener at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, Illinois on Sunday April 19th against Sky Blue FC of New Jersey. Season tickets, starting at only $99 for 10 regular season games plus two bonus games, are on sale now. Call (866) WPS-2009 or log on to www.chicagoredstars.com to reserve your seats.
