I associate something bad with this Prus. But what was it?
Alex Prus did an ESPN2 game last year at Gillette between the Rapids and the Revs and handed out two straight red cards (one to Kamler, one to a Rapid I can't remember). It was a poor performance because he gave a weak red to a Rapid player that Wynalda and Stone disagreed with, then evened it up by giving Kamler a straight red for an even weaker foul a few minutes later, a decision that was completely bashed by Wynalda (I remember him saying something about how it made him angry when a ref takes money out of an innocent palyer's paycheck in order to account for his mistakes). He then handed a second yellow to Chung in overtime, but that was deemed a good decision by the booth.
Prus' United games last year: 6/28 @ CLB - YC: Hejduk, Dunseth, Convey 7/19 v. SJ - YC: Petke, Barclay (should've been sent off), Mullan, Waibel (go figure) 8/16 @ CHI: YC - Ivanov, Stoitchkov. 2 PKs (1 for each team) 9/25 @ MET: YC - Guevara, Prideaux, Kovalenko, Stewart. Questionable PK to MET 10/25 v KC - YC: Prideaux, Nelsen, Stoitchkov, Talley, Zotinca
I have to disagree, sad to say. One day, if he works really hard, Alex Prus will work his way up to Stott's level. I don't like the looks of this at all. Saturday's going to be a chippy affair as it is...
Prus gave the OT penalty kick to Penn with which we beat Seton Hall in the first round of the 2002 College Cup. But other than that the calls he made were generally pretty bad, and I was heckling him all game telling him to go back to MLS.
I generally have a good opinion of him, then again, I see far too many MLS matches. He's probably the average, and I can't filter out his crap from the his normal games. He makes a good 4th, though. I remember a time last season he was the 4th for like 5 matches in a row that I taped. Thx, Jay!
I saw the FSW game where he sent off Mastroeni and Kamler... Kamlers red was a kneejerk reaction by the referee... No intent from Kamler, just an unfortunate collision of his cleats on the other guys leg... really... Mastroeni... well it was definitley a yellow... he came flying in with both feet studs up, but he didn't come in very high... what made it look so bad is the guy Mastro was tackling had taken an akward fall (Unrelated to the challenge) and Pablo's studs ended up in the players mid-section. I think the red to pablo was a make up call. Prus had a Metrostars game later on that same week and I didn't have a problem with him. But his handling of the Revs-rapids game was atrocious.
Alex Prus once again shows why MLS Refs SUCK!!!!! That was an obvious foul on Namoff that would have given DC the ball and no 2nd(?) goal to the Mutts. The yellow on Convey was ridculous as well. I give Prus and co a D.
Game changing call by the ref that sucked the life outta DC. Horrible non call on Gaven gives the Metro the second goal, and who knows, the deflation that came after it could have been directly responsible for the soft goal the Metros scored afterwards. Either way this should have been at least a tie for DC. Also the linesmen made bad mistakes at the end of the game giving the Metros the ball when it clearly went off one of their players, which denied us at least one corner and one throw in near goal by my count. I'm very disappointed right now...
Ditto. There was a play, late in the second half, where Freddy was running into the Mutts corner to get the ball, passed in deep. Leitch shoved Freddy so hard, Freddy knocked the AR over. It should have been called a foul by either the ref or AR, but it was granted a throw-in to the MetroTurds. As good as the ref crew was in LA, this crew today was bad.
Without a doubt the biggest blown "non-call" I've seen in years. Not to make any excuses because the Mutts played well in the second half, but that idiot gets that call right and we walk out of that dump with a point. He should be reviewed by the league.
i dont know if you guys could hear it on TV but Prus did not receive much love from us either...not gonna bother getting into who got robbed more, etc, but i would have no problem with MLS reviewing him, maybe he should watch the game more instead of trying to talk to all the players..
He was crap on both sides of the ball as far as I could tell from our position in Giants Stadium. The ARs were pretty weak as well.
