Very late assist for the game winner:

Fading into obscurity, but ... Mendez started and played 80' yesterday, in a 1-0 loss to Arouca (5th). Arouca made their PK; Vizela failed to convert theirs. Vizela is currently tied for 8th (of 18), with 5 games left.

I wouldn’t say he’s fading…I’d just say that there aren’t kids on twitter posting “every touch” videos of his games.

Doing great. A few more years and Vizela might offer him $100K per year contract.

$75k a year would be a nice raise

Eh, he is following his dream and sticking it to the ignorant, hateful man who clearly was gonna hold him back.

Kleiban the white knight is who I trust.

Heck, it would take him above the MLS minimum!

I don’t think Mendez is all that notable as a player but there are a lot of guys making well above the MLS minimum that aren’t any better.

    Interest from Liga MX:

The board of directors of San Luis really like Alex Méndez from Vizela of the Primeira Liga de Portugal. They are going to bet and negotiate for him in this market, he is American but he would count as Mexican because of his dual nationality. He is an attacking midfielder with great capacity and vision.

It would likely be a significant raise for him too. I would like to see Alex get paid.

Been awfully quiet in here, but not today ... Mendez comes on in the 84th, and gets the assist on an equalizer deep into stoppage time.

Mendez on in the 83rd, and gets to see the big action, as Vizela equalize on an 85th minute own goal only to concede in the 87th and lose.

Mendez came on today at 68’, with the game still Casa Pia 0-0 Vizela. And then the magic began, with fellow sub Alberto Soro scoring unassisted to put Vizela ahead 0-1 at 71’.

Edit: Vizela made three more subs towards the end, but the first two were apparently enough, as 0-1 Vizela was the final score.
