This game had all sorts of Yanks action.

Fernando Arce came on for Zendejas in stoppage time and Jonathan Gonzalez was subbed on midway through the second half.

Meanwhile, Jacobo Reyes came off the bench for Monterrey (I believe that's his first division debut), as did former Dallas-area resident Rogelio Funes Mori.

Zendejas has been called up to the Mexican NT for an out-of-window friendly in Charlotte. Possible 1st NT cap.

Isn't he cap-tied with Mexico? He played an official youth tournament with USA then transferred to Mexico where he then went on to play in official youth tournaments and received a senior cap in a friendly. Doesn't that mean even if he wanted to go back and USA was willing, it would be impossible to call him up?

He only played in youth friendly tournaments for Mexico after playing for the US in an official youth competition. While it's technically against the rule if he hadn't switched, it's not necessarily enforced.

We have never received confirmation that he filed his one-time-switch, but, under FIFA rules, he should have had an approved one before playing in the friendly. Obviously feds make mistakes (Bunbury played a friendly for the US while waiting for his approved switch), but the assumption is that he's gone.

There were articles a while back that he was waiting to file his switch which is why some think he didn't, especially because he didn't make the Olympic roster. That's why some have said he's still US-eligible. Regardless, he will always be eligible for this forum, even when he plays for Mexico.
