Scored today for the reserves vs. America, but he picked up two yellows. He scored at the 60th minute and was given his 2nd yellow at the 61st, wonder if had to do with a goal celebration? Stevie Rodriguez (TJ) and Ventura Alvarado (America) also started.
This was on the MLS page a couple of days ago: http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...exports-preview-garza-looks-set-tijuana-start "Youngsters Alejandro Guido and Stevie Rodriguez are both hoping for first-team minutes for los Xolos." It does appear that he is getting consistent playing time with the Tijuana U-20s Here's a short game recap from the Xolos v Querétaro U-20 game, http://xolomania.com/2012/muerde-sub-20-gallos earlier this month in which Guido scored. Guido was also a starter in the Tijuana U-20 2-1 loss to Santos this past weekend: http://tirandoagol.com/?p=18122 (Greg Garza scored in the corresponding senior game, 2-2 draw).
Not sure, the Mexican league website (www.ligamx.net) is awesome for stats but they don't really show the formations of reserve games. He played LCM in a 4-1-2-3 in the Copa Mx game iirc.
Central midfield, next to a guy by the name of Adolfo Dominguez. He's played 11 games with the sub-20, and one game with the senior side in the Copa MX, with 3 goals total in those games (and also 5 yellows / 2 reds in those games).
In camp with the US U-20s (1/14-22): http://www.soccerbyives.net/2013/01/ramos-names-20-man-roster-for-u-s-u-20-camp.html
Hopefully we'll see Guido, both Rodriguez's, De La Fuente (is he still there) and Garza get lots of time next week as the Xolos have clinched a spot in the next round of Libertadores
Alejandro Guido made the bench tonight for Tijuana in a 1-0 loss to San Luis. While he was an unused sub, I think it was his first time making a matchday roster in a Liga Mx game.
I'm assuming TJ was anticipating the Copa Liberatadores match since lots of the regulars didn't play.
American Exports: Alejandro Guido reacts to U-20 disappointment, says "I should have been called in" June 13, 2013 Tom Marshall ... '...“I’m very disappointed because out of my performances with the [Tijuana] U-20s, I should have been called in,” Guido told MLSsoccer.com recently. “It all depends on the coach, you know?” Guido was last called up by US U-20 boss Tab Ramos for a camp in Puebla in January and hasn’t heard a thing since, despite regularly captaining Xolos’ U-20s last season.... Mexico national team coaches have circled, but there has been no firm approach and Guido wasn’t a shock announcement to El Tri’s squad. That means the young Chula Vista, Calif., native – who grew up on both sides of the border – has a summer free to prepare for next season, when he’s hoping for more opportunities in Tijuana’s first team, especially in the CONCACAF Champions League.... “I think a lot of Californians are coming over and asking for tryouts,” stated Guido. “A lot of scouts from Xolos are going out there – to parts all over California to recruit players.” One of those was Club Tijuana’s new American youth signing Paul Arriola, whom Guido gave advice when he was deciding whether to sign for the LA Galaxy or Tijuana. “I told him I loved it here,” said Guido. “I told him about my experience, what it is like living here, my daily routine, my plans according to the institution.” ...Part of Guido’s daily routine is crossing the border every day from the United States to train in Mexico, something he has gotten used to in his year at the club.' http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...o-bears-down-after-us-u-20-disappointment-say
With Dorados de Sinaloa in the Liga de Ascenso, possibly on loan: http://www.doradosfc.com.mx/equipo/jugadores.php?id=22
Looks like the reason we haven't seen him much is he was injured. https://twitter.com/XoloSd/status/367396460146331648
Signing with Xolos was a huge mistake for Guido. Didn't he have interest from clubs in the Netherlands? He should have went there.
