Re: Alejandro Guido on trial in the Netherlands Getting signed by Vitesse is pretty big nowadays considering they have very strong ties with Chelsea. Their new owner Merab Jordania (Georgian millionaire) is said to be a puppet of Abramovich. They have young players from around the globe in their squad including Chelsea and Barca loanees. This is a big, big opportunity to further his career.
Re: Alejandro Guido on trial in the Netherlands Hopefully he signs, he was one of the best guys from our U-17, in not the best.
Re: Alejandro Guido on trial in the Netherlands Guido can be picked up for free as he hasn't signed a contract anywhere else yet making him more interesting for Vitesse.
Re: Alejandro Guido on trial in the Netherlands Yeah, they may take a chance based on this and his age alone. He has superior technical ability no doubt. Small wage contract would suffice I'm sure, especially with the connections that Vitesse have now, he'd be doing himself a disservice passing up that opportunity.
Re: Alejandro Guido on trial in the Netherlands Here's the story being reported on a Dutch sports website: http://www.sport1.nl/nieuws/21847-vitesse-geeft-amerikaanse-tiener-een-kans.html
Re: Alejandro Guido on trial in the Netherlands New thread title- American Werewolf in Arnhem: Alejandro Guido @ Vitesse
Re: Alejandro Guido on trial in the Netherlands Not sure what you mean by "small wage contract" as the Dutch have a min wage contract for foreigners, which I believe is 100K+, seems like a lot to gurantee a youth/academy player.
Re: Alejandro Guido on trial in the Netherlands He did say "especially with the connections that Vitesse have now" though.. Which is true since they have others on the same kind of contract already in their squad. The way Vitesse is set up currently is basicly that of an International feeder club, they sign promising youngsters all over with the intention of selling them on big profits. I think Guido fits the bill.
Re: Alejandro Guido on trial in the Netherlands Vitesse claiming that it is not a trial. However, Seltzer says that if he performs well there they could be interested somewhere down the road.
Re: Alejandro Guido on trial in the Netherlands I believe it's more in the 350K/400K range, or it was a few years ago for non-EU players.
Re: Alejandro Guido on trial in the Netherlands I believe that is for senior players. I thing there is a lower amount for younger players.
Re: Alejandro Guido on trial in the Netherlands Well, considering Vitesse is the one hosting him, I think "claiming" is not the right word. I'm fairly sure, as the proverbial horse's mouth, they know what the visit is. You guys are so cynical!!
Re: Alejandro Guido on trial in the Netherlands Well of course every training stint at a club is a trial because otherwise the club wouldn't bother. Show well in training and the club is always free to become interested. But Guido probably can't sign until next March anyway so Vitesse is probably correct in trying to downplay this whether they're interested in signing him then or not.
Re: Alejandro Guido on trial in the Netherlands He was meant to be there two weeks in total. I'm not actually 100% on when he arrived.
Re: Alejandro Guido on trial in the Netherlands According to his Twitter feed, Alejandro is back in the Netherlands. Earlier he tweets at Alex Shinsky saying he's "waiting to turn 18." That doesn't happen until late March, but it sounds like he's signed/signing somewhere.

Re: Alejandro Guido on trial in the Netherlands This could be really good for him. I like the Dutch league, especially for young players.
Re: Alejandro Guido on trial in the Netherlands Still on trial? Hmm... http://twitter.com/#!/aeguido/status/139809763264434176/photo/1
Re: Alejandro Guido on trial in the Netherlands Probably still technically on trial for FIFA's rules, then will be made official once he turns 18.
