that's a great album. not to burst your bubble, but according to www.allmusic.com, that record came out in '03. here's my three Arcade Fire-"funeral" Iron & Wine-"Endless numbered days" the Go! Team- "Thunder, Lightning, Strike"
. . . Oh, album of this year . . . you know, the thread title, she's not a-too a-specifeek . . . ahem.
Yes, I suppose they would be classified more Prog Metal. They are completely unique however and defy classification. I recently started listening to them because of Daniel Gildenlow's involvement in The Flower Kings. Pain of Salvation is an absolutely astonishing band. Highly recommended. The new album Be is not the place for new fans to start however. I would check out The Perfect Element Part I first to get an idea of what the band is about. Be is a highly complex work even by their standards. http://www.painofsalvation.com/be
So many great ones... There are about six that stand out for me: Ted Leo/Pharmacists, Shake The Sheets Brian Wilson, Smile The Delgados, Universal Audio RJD2, Since We Last Spoke McLusky, The Difference Between Me And You Is That I'm Not On Fire The Paper Chase, God Bless Your Black Heart Any of them, possibly even the new one by The Thermals could end up as my album of the year. I haven't decided yet...I love them all.

Re: So many great ones... you mean "********in A"? I thought it was rather weak, esp. compared to "More Parts per Milliion"
