Alberto Gilardino (whom i first saw play in an Toulon u-21 tourney a few years aback, has come on leaps and bounds. Gilardino ended his season at Parma with 23 goals (4 beauties in the season finale vs Udinese) to be the highes scoring Italian in Serie A. Though he narrowly missed selection for euro2004 squad, Gilardino had a successful U-21 euro championship where he scored 4 goals to lead the Italy U-21 team to a fourth u-21 title in the last 5 versions. Alberto Gilardino and Antonio Cassano look the pair for ITALY in the future. However, given Parma's financial predicament, Parma may well be forced to sell, enter the GILARDINO sweepstakes, with the creme de la creme of Europe are in waiting.
Today was reported on Football Italia, there have been no concrete offers for Alberto Gilardino. It was laso stated Gilardino as well as Daniele Bonera and Sebastian Frey were intransferrable. http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/jul12i.html
I'd love if that were true, but it's probably just a negotiating tactic. One thing's for sure-- we won't sell them off cheap. Their salaries have been covered. Even Gilardino said to the local paper yesterday that he'd rather stay another year in Parma than sit the bench at Juve, a la Miccoli and DiVaio.
Personally Alberto Gilardino would start ahead of David Trezeguet for me. But JUVENTUS should sign him and loan him back to Parma at worse but get him! I love this guy, he is a great talent, to me the next Christian Vieri type player, who has such a great career club and international wise(bar Euro2004) It may well be negotiating tactic but if Parma hold onto those guys they will be a tough nut to crack next season.
With Marco Di Vaio having signed for Valencia joining Claudio Ranieri's Italian revolution in Spain, Juventus now have only three strikers of note on their books. Fabio Capello has reportedly asked for a new striker to bolster his line-up. One of the names thrown prominently into the mix, who else but Italian GOLDEN BOY Alberto Gilardino. The Gilardino transfer saga continues!
Gilardino is very stupid if he goes to Juventus because he will get no playing time. Look at Miccoli. He has an amazing year at Perugia, he came to Juventus and is now dying as a player. Same thing with Di Vaio. He scored 22 goals with Parma, went to Juventus and died as a player. Hopefully his move to Valencia will give him new life. Gilardino will face the same problem as these players did when they went to Juventus after great seasons. He should be smart and go to Roma, where he will get a starting place and get to play with Totti and Cassano. Totti, Cassano, and Gilardino should be the starting attack on the national team too.
I rememeber Francesco Totti saying that he would depart Roma if they sign players that he thinks could help Roma win the Scudetto next term and Alberto Gilardino was 1 of those players.
The Alberto Gilardino saga has taken yet another bunch of twists. Gilardino publicly has spoken of desire to make a move to the capital city and A.S.Roma. Parma have stated he is not for sale, oddly enough not even for 30 million pounds. Juventus hopefully will steal in and get themselves the next great ITALIAN hitman. Hopefully and evn more hopefully we won't have to break the bank!
The LEGEND of ALBERTO GILARDINO grows further............ 3 goals in 4 games at the OLYMPICS... ITALY in semis versus Gold Medal Faves Argentina, he mas miss out! Alberto Gilardino is continuously adding to his young legacy which is already pretty magnificent. Alberto Gilardino and Antonio Cassano.... ITALY with the world's best striking duo when they both play together in Azzurri team of the future...
Ok, so we have a new season upon us with Gilardino still at Parma. I don't know, this may be a knee jerk remark after his recent play in the last two qualifiers, but maybe we jocked this boy's ******** a little too much. Don't get me wrong, I like the kid and hope that he is the next Vieri. BUT, defenses will pay a lot closer attention to him this season and he will need to be consistent. On a side note, did he even score against any of the big clubs last season?
He scored a goal versus Juventus in a 2-2 draw at Parma late in season, not too sure bout rest of games. But he was a key player and what most people forget which makes his 23 goals all the more impressive was that he was hardly even a starter until Adriano got injured in October/November!
