Okay here we go again. We need to get off to a winning start.Nothing but three pts please.

I wonder will Van Bommel start the match.
We have cover now in central defence and DM position.

Here is my first choice line-up

    Valdes

    Belletti
    Puyol
    Oleguer
    Sylvio
    Edmilson
    Xavi
    Dec
    Giuly
    Ronnie
    Eto'o

I'd take that line-up, except I'd switch Marquez with Oleguer. I'd prefer Van Bommel come off the bench, as I wasn't thrilled with his performance against Juve. Besides, our team seems to have a different shape when he is on the field.

Alaves looking good, Barca looking comfy. Barca needs to get into their groove tho. 2 deep runs from alaves and now they earn a fk near the half.

6 mins in, it doesn't look like a Champion vs a newly-promoted side.

Barca pressuring more and getting into the final 3rd of the field.

I don't get why Eto'o is on the left. I don't mind him attacking from there, but I feel Ronnie would add more there. Eto'o is hustling a lot though and tracking all the way back.

Barca is the better team now, but Alaves looks very good considering that they are new to the primera.

I saw this in the preseason, and hoped it would go back to normal once the season started. Ronaldinho is better with width, and Eto'o is better at the top. I don't get why they've traded spots this year. I hope FR changes it back soon.

Giuly with a one time shot from 25m rockets at the goal, but it was parried away.

Seconds later Eto'o gets Giuly in on goal, another save.

I think Giuly was just in again, but Bonano saved.

    ALL Barca now.

Holy crap. Deco from 30m at least. It was heading top corner, but Bonano's diving save put it out for a ck.

Damn, I think Eto'o was training with some Kenyan runners this summer or something. He has a bunch of energy. He is running everywhere and keeps coming back for the ball.

I don't mind Oleguer on the right, it may in fact be a smart move against good opposition, but I think Belletti offers more in games like this where offense is more important.

asta...you touched on it earlier, but don't you think that this formation is isolating Ronaldinho? Our best on-ball player can't seem to get a touch because he's up front by himself.

Maybe using this formation keeps him from getting fatigued late in the season?

I completely agree. I cannot complain about Eto'o so far, he looks very good actually, but Ronnie is getting few touches.

And of course, just as I say all that, it appears Dinho has moved back to his accostomed spot on the left hand side.
