From the Fire boards. He's been seen playing in Chicago recently and is rumored to be part of a trade. He would make sense for them - low money and part of a trade in the works with DC.... https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=25715
Interesting but does he have any family links to the chicago area because maybe he was just playing there to keep his fitness levels up?
Sorry, but I don't think there's any news here. DC already decided not to renew Alavanja's contract back in November: http://www.dcunited.com/index.cfm?section=main&cont_id=142247 Thus, he's not listed on our roster at the team website. We can't trade him. And, for that matter, who would give up anything for him? He's from East Chicago, I think. So him training in the Chicago area isn't surprising. I'm so starved for trade news i'm reading, researching, and posting on the Lazo Alavanja thread. I gotta get a life.
sorry, that was posted by a spank trying to hype a local semi pro team that has had jamar beasely on it before (currently?) i would rather doubt it has anything to do with the fire
Just a little side note, but Lazo has to be my least favorite player ever to wear a DC jersey. Although we've seen a few awful players come through, Alavanja rivals even the worst...and on top of that Hudson talked about what a "gem" we were getting right after the dispersal draft.
Chris Albright takes the cake for me. ALvanja was bad, but didn't have the pure frustration factor that ALbright provided us with.
Yeah, you didn't have the equivalent of the Albright fan club, telling you that if you just held onto Lazo for one more season, he would really come into his own and life up to all the promise that everyone had touted .
I can't rate him that low, not based on talent, but based on grit. The first time I ever saw him play was at the Comunicaciones game down in Guatemala -- he got his nose broken and went back in and finished the game. It's a small thing, I suppose, but I guess I never joined the Alavanja-bashers because that was my first impression of the guy.
