Last week the AFA announced the abandonment of the 2020 Copa de la Superliga after one round. The current Copa de la Superliga format involves the 24 Primera Division teams being divided into two groups of 12 clubs that play each other once. The top 2 teams in each group then advance to the semifinals. The AFA hope to award the 2021 Copa Libertadores spot reserved for the winner to a tournament to be potentially played in the second semester of 2020. The 2019 - 2020 Argentine Primera Division was played from 7/26/19 to 3/9/20. Alan Sonora played 95 minutes in the league (2 games, 1 start). Independiente finished in 14th. He has also made one start (90 minutes of playing time) to date in the 2020 Copa Sudamericana. Independiente has advanced to the second stage (Round of 32) and the competition is currently suspended. Finally, he saw 24 minutes of playing time (1 appearance) in the 2018-2019 Copa Argentina (which despite the name was a 2019 calendar year tournament). Independiente were eliminated in the quarterfinals. The 2019-2020 Copa Argentina (which is a calendar year-end 2020 tournament) is currently suspended. Independiente has yet to play their Round of 64 match.
