Al Trost Elected To National Soccer Hall of Fame! This is an Honor that was long overdue. Al Trost was one of my alltime favorite players. @ Saint Louis U Al won 2 consectutive Hermann Trophy's and was a member of either 2 or 3 NCAA Championship teams. Trost went on to Star for the US Olympic Team and the US National Team often serving as team Captain. Trost was the original player nicknamed "Captain America". Of course in the early 1970's the US Soccer Team was terribly neglected and was operating on a shoestring budget. Make no mistake the players on those US teams like Trost were incredible players. Trost played 7 NASL seasons scoring 38 goals and 24 assists and he was arguably in my mind among the best US Midfielder's ever produced.

hey, thanks for the heads up.

I remember going to the first game of the California Surf, of the late NASL...

I remember Al Trost being introduced as "Captain America, Al Trost..." and him running on to the field across the baseball diamond at Anaheim Stadium.

Congrats to Al from an old California Surf fan...

Great story. I'll tell it to Al next time I see him.
