"MEF - 35-year old former Croatia international striker Davor Suker has reportedly signed a contract with United Arab Emirates champions Al-Ain, it to believe Friday’s edition of Qatari daily Al-Watan.

The 1998 World Cup topscorer, who vowed retiring from the game next summer in an interview with Münchner Abendzeitung last October, would be spearheading the attack of hosts Al-Ain next month for the count of the quarter-finals stage of the competition, featuring also Al-Hilal of Riyadh, Al-Sadd of Qatar and Iran’s Esteghlal.

Al-Ain are scheduled to face neighbouring Saudi representatives Al-Hilal of Riyadh in their inaugural outing on March 9.

“The player has signed an official deal with UAE’s Al-Ain just before the AFC deadline set on February 9,” confirmed today Al-Watan daily.

“Everything was done under strict confidential circumstances in order to reach a positive outcome, thus the transfer tag wasn’t unveiled,” added the daily.

The veteran Croat striker was quoted last month by German’s Münchner Abendzeitung' as saying “Its almost sure that I want to finish my career in the summer. I'm not enjoying anymore training camps in Dubai or playing in the snow of Munich."

The 35-year-old striker is currently under contract with German Bundesliga outfits 1860 Munich."

I heard he fell down on the way to the desk to sign the contract. When video evidence revealed that no contact was made, the Croat admitted he must have tripped over his own feet.
