The Ajax squad seems a bit thin, with injuries having taken their toll. If Getafe offered a draw today, I think Ajax would accept.

GK Varela, hasn't looked great; Onana suspended; Kotarski promising but Jong

FB Dest, Tagliafico, both strong, but Mazraoui is injured; Timber is Jong

CB Alvarez solid, but Blind just returned; Schuurs also just back; Veltman out

MF Martinez, Ziyech (just back), van de Beek; Eiting (soft), Gravenberch (Jong)

F Babel, Traore, Tadic; Huntelaar, Danilo; no Promes, no Neres - both injured

Not included from the 22 who traveled: Onana (suspended), Marin, Ekkelenkamp (Jong), Scherpen (Jong GK)

dest honestly moves more in the attacking third than josh sargent does. not sure if thats praise for dest, damnation for sargent, or a mixture of both

Geeez, this is a team tactical issue. This is NOT something that individual players decide.

a different kind of challenge for dest today - getafe are big, fast, and direct.

Horrific first half for Ajax. Lucky to be down 1. Dest was not good (neither was anyone else except Varela who made some big saves).

Getafe is a strong team too. This season, they have been tough to beat anywhere, and worse at home. Frankly, the 2-0 is deserved.

Lost 2-0, conceding at 90+3'. Return leg @ Ajax next Thursday.

Didn't watch, but the stats reflect an extreme version of what (I feel) I've been seeing lately.

Ajax with a big advantage in possession, 65-35, about 420 passes to 220, but Getafe with an enormous advantage in shots, 10-2 (9-0 until very late).

Tagliafico with a yellow card today will not play next week. Onana will be back in goal, I'm sure.

That one was on Schuurs. Wtf was that? How do you ******** up a simple lateral pass in the last minute of the game when your entire team is up there searching for a goal. He gifted them that counter, and it wasn't even a high risk pass!

Yes entire team was bad. Dest got bullied around a bunch. Matches like this aren't his bread and butter.

if bayern buys him for 30 does reinforce davies is probably worth 60

  20. I only saw the last 10 minutes and iirc in the 87th minute Dest passed the ball back into the box to two Getafe players. He was lucky that Varela was alert and dived on the ball before those two could get their feet on the ball.
The own goal afaik was a bit unlucky.

  21. German football is this physical, so that doesnot bode well then.

Once an opponent knows that you are soft, they will play physical, in any league. There is no hiding this fact (if this is truly a fact about Dest).

  23. Will be interesting to see on what side he's put in against the Orange squad. On the rightback spot he will face the physical strong and fast Bergwijn. On the LB side it's not clear yet who's going to be the right winger he will face.

  24. Voetbal International ratings:
    Ajax 3-0 RKC
    Dest 6

honestly i think the player least equipped to deal with the physicality wasnt dest but alvarez. ziyech i am going to give a pass to since he seemed like he was just having a shocker in terms of decision making.
