My favorite way to read xG is xG vs shots. This jives-- tons of shots and not many big chances. Real lack of movement and quality in final 1/3.
Yes, and frankly I think that, historically, a club that plays in the style Ajax profess to want to play would have fewer shots but higher xG.
Ajax have become a team lacking in quality and certainly are very short handed without Brobbey and Bergwijn. The idea of selling them which has been rumored a lot would put this team into a bigger hole than they are currently in. The Midfield lacks creativity, speed, and athleticism while the Defenders are very average at best. GK is another weak spot. On top of that the lifeline of this club its youth development has not developed anything special recently to help move the club forward. The biggest problem of all however has been the horrendous job the Board and Management have done the past couple of seasons with its inability to evaluate talent, and waste millions on players who are simply not good enough, and selecting some very poor Trainers. How can this get better? Hoping and praying that Farioli can perform some miracles, but the proof is in the pudding when closely looking at this roster, and it’s financial problems.
I genuinly don't understand the myopic vision of Ajax when it is about a goalie. Nick Marsman, when as usual Bijlow was injured, was so good goal keeping for Feyenoord, he made VI Teams of the Week several times, that I was of the opinion, based on his performance, he should at least have been selected into the Orange Squad list. The last two years he was available on a free transfer, and yet Ajax didnot take him.
Part of this I did not see coming. Farioli has told Tahirovic, Sosa, Wijndal and Vos, that they are all suplus and should look for new clubs. The first three I get, but Vos was very highly rated in the academy. Henderson only has one more year on his contract and I guess that Farioli prefers Mannswerk over Vos. Curious.
Shocking and troubling about Vos. Need to hear more about this. There was speculation that he had same agent as Misehouy another talent who was just dumped and forced out, but not sure if this is true.
Vos extended his contract to 2028 last year. Problem is he has been hurt off and on and apparently Farioli did not like his attittude. It might be best to loan him out this season and see how he plays.
Has more to do with his financial demands. That was the reason he left Feyenoord, as they werenot prepared to pay the same the mls club did.
Vos is a bit of a shocker. But looking back last year-- he had a breakthrough in November, gets hurt, comes back and plays 1 match then never really plays again the rest of the season. With how bad the team was, it was telling he couldn't get on the field. Sosa, Wijndal gone = Hato will be starting LB? Kaplan at LCB? Tahirovic... of all the bad buys recently, he might be #1. He stinks.
Tahirovic I called it immediately. He was so out of his depth and played very poorly displaying zero postional sense and horrible in possession. On top of that he was too slow and unathletic which he was exposed for constantly playing as a 6 with Ajax losing the middle of the park often. Upon his leaving Roma Jose Mourinho stated that Tahirovic needed a lot of work having appeared in only 11 matches. Ajax Board/Mislintat just asleep at the wheel paying anything for him. The problem pretty much across the board at Ajax is that several of the current squad are not good enough, and teams won’t be paying much for our trash. It’s a very bad situation at Ajax after the demolition job that Sven pulled off last season.
Traore traveling to Serbia -- Bergwijn and Brobbey are not. So still very weak attacking wise. Maybe Berghuis will start?
I can't find a stream but from Fotmob it looks like Vojvodina haven't been very threatening. Is this accuate?
Corner from halftime sub Van den Boomen on for Taylor is met by Akpom that keeper pushes into Sutalo who taps in.
