No one really at their best today. Since the strategy seems to be muck up the game and hope to get lucky I guess that is to be expected.
I like the 4-4-2 for its defensive stability. Easy formation to be organized and help reduce chances. But the lack of an extra player in the midfield or on the frontline makes possession difficult. Having a hard time counter attacking as well. Might be a game where the subs make a huge difference.
Other than set pieces we were defensively solid. It won't last in the 2nd half if we can't get more of the ball. We really struggled against the counter press. All of Peglow, Stroud and Kijima were terrible with the ball. Hopkins for Stroud at halftime would be justified. I thought Peltola was good, except when he got faked out of his boots at the end of the half. Baribo is a pest at least.
I don't have anything else to add to what's been said so far, but I'm glad it's still 0-0 and Sean Johnson came up big a couple times early (though that missed punch on one of the corners was almost disastrous).
Made it home in time to watch the second half. Noted the substitutions. Still feeling a twinge of optimism.
We showed nothing. Stroud should not be starting or a first option off the bench. Kijima is a bench spark not a starter. Not sure why they started but now we know.
I was listening to the game in the car and I damn near crashed when the Apple announcers talked about legacy DCU and our three stripe jerseys, calling it the essence and soul of the team. I don't think I realized the league employed anyone who even knew the league existed prior to like 2010.
