Man, I am just SO tired of this team. So bad for so long, there is very little to enjoy. The excitement i used to have in the anticipation of going to games, the day of the game fun etc. is just non-existent now. I watch on tv because they've been my team for 30 yrs, but they are just a ponderous, plodding talentless lump that barely rises to the level of professional soccer. Im a Wizards/Bullets fan too ffs, who literally trying to be bad every year thinking, this will be the one we'll get the top draft pick and turn it around.
I am expecting to, had to miss the last two regular season games. And, they are giving us another tailgate...so I dont have to shell out additional for h-hour.
Last year DC ended the season with 0.88 goals per game which felt like torture. But in 2010, they only had 0.7 goals per game. Shockingly, in 2013 they had MLS' worst-ever offense at only 0.64 goals per game. This year, United is at 0.57 goals per game. In other words, we could be looking at a world-historically bad offense. I'm increasingly convinced that Gabriel Pirani is a performance artist who's trying to subvert societal norms by exposing the ludicrous nature of supposed "meritocracies".
I thought about hitting that up, but I also really just want a couple of slices of Andy's and a Dance of Days before the game.
I think we can all agree that the Open Cup is absolutely the only possible way that The United is going to sniff a trophy this season. With that in mind, let's take a look around and see how MLS teams fared last night: KC were absolutely demolished by USL-C Colorado Springs. The 3-0 final scoreline was deeply flattering to KC. Austin got clobbered by USL-C Louisville. It wasn't nearly as close as the 2-1 scoreline implies NE managed a draw and a win in penalties against USL-C Rhode Island Minnesota managed a draw and a win in penalties against USL-C Sacramento NYCFC beat USL-1 Westchester SC. Chicago beat USL-C Detroit Colorado beat USL-1 Omaha So MLS teams ended up 3-2-2 on the night against minor league teams. If DC thinks they can start Jacob Murrell and Conor Antley and count on a win, they're going to throw away their only hope for a trophy this year.
Lineup: Bono Antley Markovic Rowles Kurokawa Kijima Peltola Hopkins Peglow Turner LOUIS Bench: Avilez, Farr, Hefti, Murrell, Pirani, Servania, Stroud Peltola with the well deserved armband tonight, too.
Also for the BS crew at the game, I'll be in 127 row 14 on the aisle next to 126 if it's as empty as we expect.
Louis makes a lot of runs his teammates just don't pick out. Markovic is so comfortable on the ball. He's probably ready to start MLS games.
In the stadium that looked 100% a goal. This is awful. Relative to competition, this is giving Bennyball vs NYCFC level
This is a thoroughly embarrassing performance so far. Peglow is so disconnected right now. Everything he touches turns into a bad turnover. Not even close to linking up with teammates. Hopkins is regressing match-by-match. The inability to connect passes in the final third is frustrating. I get there are a lot of changes but we see this with the "full X1" side as well. Our best bet is to get the ball out wide and work inside from there, but again, those final balls from Antley, Kurokowa, Peglow, etc have been hot garbage There is ZERO confidence in this team right now and they should be trailing to this Knoxville side. They have more daring technical players than DC that's for sure and that in itself is the crux of this teams issues right now
