I guess there wasn't some kind of thread for him already?

Watching him this year, a move like this seemed pretty likely to me, or at least it seemed likely that he'd have options/suitors overseas.

Very good move, while they didn't do as good this season Boro is one of the more ambitious Championship sides and Carrick is a good coach

Also a pretty good central midfielder in his day.

Awesome. I wasn't expecting this and it's a nice surprise to have another yank to follow in the Championship next season.

I am not one of those people who think players need to make a quick move abroad. I like seeing players build roots with a domestic club, develop, play a lot, win, and then make the move. Like Tyler

Aidan accomplished so much with Columbus. He won 2 Cups, he went to the CONCACAF Championship final, he recovered from an ACL tear.

it is cool to see him leave such a legacy with the Crew

not a huge fan of the championship but economics seem to be driving a ton of americans there lately

it's better than staying in MLS for life....and the more americans in europe, the better....so hopefully it works out

however, the hit rate for getting to the EPL seems pretty low.....

for example, some recent efl champ americans not getting out of league...or notably NOT improving their club career (yet) via playing in that league:
haji, sargent, dike, gooch, holmes, kelman, tomkinson, de la torre, olusunde, fossey, jordan morris, miazga, horvath, hoppe, covil, arriola, cannon, steffen, ccv, duncan mcguire etc etc

some americans who jumped from championship to epl or high league: yedlin, ream, jedi, holden, eddie lewis, trusty (although relegated now...so maybe shouldnt count)

for the solid majority, its a bit of a black hole league, imo....although there is a smattering of success stories, as well

Morris went 90 minutes in Middlesbrough's season opener, a 1-0 win over Swansea.

Time to move this thread out of this forum.

Morris made his Boro debut today, starting and going the full 90 in 1-0 win over Swansea. Scrolling through X, fans and pundits are impressed with his debut. It appears be played behind the lone striker as an 8/10 in a 4-2-3-1. From FotMob he earned a 7.3 with solid stats.

    33/39 Passing
    1 Chance created
    1 Big Chance Created

What does that mistake have to do w/ the step up in comp? It's a stupid decision under little pressure.

Overall, he did alright. W/out that mistake, I'd say above average. Thankfully his teammates bailed him out for the narrative. But he did well in recoveries, anticipating before anybody. Should have had an assist (or hockey one) off one where he hit the lead pass after.

This thread should have been promoted immediately after making the move. As if he wasn't going to play & didn't have a notable club & country career already.

just an excuse for people to spew biases.

Morris was fine. He made a mistake that had nothing to do with the competition (mistakes like these happen early in the season). But was otherwise decent and should stay in the starting XI.

More players have handled MLS to Championship just fine

It is par for the course. Just trying to get clicks and people's reactions. He played a good game overall... that pass was the lowlight. Bad passes happen. It didn't go in. As long as it doesn't become a usual thing it certainly doesn't deserve that kind of negativity. Graduation Day :)
