Morris starting in Leg 2 of the playoff semifinal. 1-0 to Boro 5 minutes in. Two minutes of sustained possession, including a challenge that 100% should have been a Middlesbrough penalty, leads to the goal. Morris had a pass or two in the build-up and was, most importantly, first on scene to celebrate.
Proper feisty playoff match so far. 1-1 approaching halftime, couple of orange cards, managers got in a tiff, scrappy goal. Exactly what you want out of the chaos that is the Championship. Morris has been rock solid.
Morris gets stuck in... with a Southampton ball-boy. Small skirmish kicks up involving Southampton's subs who were nearby.
Wew, that's a close one... I could be convinced of a "PK" call from a few angles, but the ref did the right thing with the no-call. Even with VAR, I dunno there would be enough to overturn the call on the field.
feels like Boro is barely hanging on for PKs. Morris and their keeper have been the bright spots during the first period of ET, but momentum is certainly against Boro at the moment.
0.11 xG for Boro since halftime, but "only" 0.74 for Southampton, so they're not quite banging down the door.
Boro concede a humiliating goal... Charles looked to cross, every boro player thought another would cover it, and despite not finding a Southampton head, it does end up in the back of the net.
Booooooooooo Southampton clearly deserved the win on the day, but no one's going to be happy about that besides their fans.
hey now, there's always the chance that Southampton have the humiliation of qualifying for the final at Wembly, but then having it taken away by the FA for "spygate"
Morris getting praise for the announcers for his game. He made a poor cross but did really well to track back and kill a dangerous chance.
