Re: Agudelo Offered Contract? Maybe some of that allocation money they got from Philadelphia will go towards signing him
Re: Agudelo Offered Contract? Not if he gets a GA contract. But maybe if we give him a senior deal. I just hope MLS doesnt' screw this up for us and lets us pay him enough to actually get him signed. They'd be really stupid to let him go somewhere else just because of a few $$. The kid is going to be another Jozy: hanging with us for a year or so, then off to Europe for the big $$. MLS should take advantage and cash in by giving him a pretty sweet deal that will encourage him to stay for the short term.
Re: Agudelo Offered Contract? the kid is starting the 2nd half for us in the friendly at La Manga..hope that means talks are progressing.
Re: Agudelo Offered Contract? Looks like he assisted our 2nd goal. Good stuff. That could be the last we hear of him until we know his decision. I think he said he was going to make a decision shortly after returning to NJ. Hopefully that assist will leave a good taste in his mouth.
Re: Agudelo Offered Contract? It's not his mouth that will be sealing the deal. I hope it leaves a good taste in Soler's mouth, enough to offer the kid a reason to sign with us (assuming that the MLS doesn't interfere and screw things up per usual.)
Re: Agudelo Offered Contract? Has anyone ever read if the offer was a GA deal or not? Are they lowballing him or is the league the final say with the GA deal.
Re: Agudelo Offered Contract? Had Agudelo been an academy player for DC, LA, or just about anyone else in the league, would it be taking this long for MLS and Garber to sign him? Here's a U-17/20 Nat team player with the physical tools to develop into a star player and potential transfer sale to some Euro team in the not too distant future. WTF is the hold up.
Re: Agudelo Offered Contract? You're assuming that Agudelo has no other offers on the table. It could be that he is weighing his options, and MLS may not be his favored destination.
Re: Agudelo Offered Contract? The question isn't whether or not he has other offers or whether MLS is his favored destination(who offers him more Millionarios or MLS) but rather what is MLS's offer and why haven't they made an offer, as they did with Mwanga and Gil, that he and his agent can't refuse.
Re: Agudelo Offered Contract? But how do you know they haven't made an offer? Gil turned down multiple offers from MLS before finally accepting the latest deal. Mwanga did the same before signing before the draft. Unless Agudelo publicly turns down an MLS offer, there is no way of knowing what's being done between both parties.
Re: Agudelo Offered Contract? The more Agudelo plays with the team in preseason, the more I feel like he will end up with RBNY. That said, I still want the deal done ASAP.
Re: Agudelo Offered Contract? Word is Agudelo signed with Red Bulls earlier today. No source yet, but this is just what I've heard from very reliable sources who are close to him and his family.
Re: Agudelo Offered Contract? Good for NY. I think it's been a pretty good crop of academy signings in the past few months and hopefully a sign that there will be a few more before the season starts.
Re: Agudelo Offered Contract? Thanks for the insight. I'll take it with a grain of salt until something more official comes out, but this is encouraging.
Re: Agudelo Offered Contract? Kudos to the new authorities of RED Bulls, I hope that Hill will be the next....I like that, very, very much....
Re: Agudelo Offered Contract? This will be great news when it's finally announced. Agudelo is entrenching himself as a partner for Angel. It could make for a dangerous combination.
Re: Agudelo Offered Contract? This is TOTAL speculation on my part, but if you're right, maybe that's the news Lewis has coming for us: "Should have some Red Bull news for you guys this afternoon...encouraging stuff so far..." http://twitter.com/NYPost_Lewis
Re: Agudelo Offered Contract? Must be coincidence that MLS finally signs Agudelo on the same day that they are to hold a weighted lottery for Gil which mathematically should favor RB winning. I don't think it's coincidence that Agudelo got the first half start up top with Angel against DC and i can't wait to see what he's got during the mickey mouse classic.
Re: Agudelo Offered Contract? March 5th and MLS still hasn't signed him. How much of a low ball offer are they throwing at him and why? Brian Lewis "chats" with Agudelo. "My agent and the negotiators for Red Bull, they’ve had good talks, and all we have to worry about is MLS and MLS' decision about my contract. If I'm happy with it, then I'll stay; but it's still up in the air,'' said the soft-spoken Agudelo, adding the issue is "not with the contract offer by the Red Bulls, the MLS offer. "The MLS has a homegrown player contract and they offered it to me, but MLS owns that contract with Adidas…My agent didn’t feel like that contract was good enough because of my level of play, and I've been playing with the national team.''
Re: Agudelo Offered Contract? Argh, if we get screwed on this one by MLS I will really start to believe that they have the knives out for us. Get this done Garber!
Re: Agudelo Offered Contract? Seriously. The kid has more of a professional track record than Luis Gil. He's got a firm offer from Millionarios and he's shown well in the preseason with Red Bulls. He also wants to play here. There is absolutely no reason why the Red Bulls shouldn't be allowed to sign him.
Re: Agudelo Offered Contract? Agreed. If MLS dicks around and blows this opportunity, it just proves the league is not living up to it's potential and should NOT be allowed to control the contracts. I understand that the fear of free agency and team contracts, but it's one thing to grow slowly, a whole other thing to retard growth altogether.
Re: Agudelo Offered Contract? is it possibly a generation adidas issue? if gil was signed to a gen ad contract, and mls already expanded the adidas budget for this rookie class to get him signed, maybe they are waiting for the new cba to open up some $$ to pay agudelo appropriately? that would explain why even though there has been no mls offer yet, he hasn't bolted for millionarios. dare i say that both sides are showing... patience?... given the circumstances.
