Translation: He will be tackling Garber and company with both studs up. Appropriate to give a defender like Goos this role.

Right on. Get in their faces if you don't like the BS they try and give us! The days of us getting F'd by the league in terms of signings, etc is over.

well, certainly our coaching staff can kick the hell out any other mls coaching staff in a game of soccer.

they just need to hire a striker as an assitant to the directors.

Can someone please make an own-goal joke out of this? I mean, that's why I checked this thread out in the first place! :D :D

It's been overdone enough. Sort of like the 60/90 humor.

First of all, we won the game where Agoos scored an own goal, and that is all that really matters.

And beginning in 1994, the USA has been the beneficiary of an own goal in WC play three times, and only once was the USA a victim. The USA record in WC games where an own goal occurred is 2 wins, 1 draw and 0 losses. (The game vs Portugal in WC 2002 had 2 own goals in it.)

It's good to see a fellow chess fan. I assume you are also following the World Chess Championship in progress.

Just so RBNY doesn't go after another DC United great, Marco, to run it.

It's starting to look like DC United North in the team management ranks.

Hardly surprising since everyone and their brother knew Bruce was going to take "his" guys.

Hmm, this move explains a lot about why Agoos was playing so much in Japorea 2002. Bruce is loyal to a fault.

Whatever happened to the plan for Marco to help the USA team in Germany? They certainly could have used his help.

Is it possible to score an own goal as technical director?

Red Bull New York announced today that former U.S. National Team defender and MLS standout Jeff Agoos will become the organization's Technical Director effective January 1, 2007. In this role, Agoos will be responsible for scouting players at the amateur and professional levels, both domestically and internationally.

So he's in charge of scouting amateur players in the US but he's not starting till after the college season ends?

    Kinda odd.

It is odd, maybe even bizarre. He seems reticent at best. Not a good sign.
