So Nigeria and South Africa, the two favourites, cannot both qualify for the 2003 World Cup.

The first place team goes to the WWC (ie either South Africa, Nigeria, Cameroon, or Ghana).

Actually, does Africa still only get one place in the WWC?

France is the eighth nation to qualify for the fourth Women's World Cup, a 16-nation tournament that will kick off next September. Host China, fellow Europeans Germany, Norway, Russia and Sweden, and CONCACAF qualifiers United States and Canada also have advanced.

The remainder of the field will be taken by two nations from Africa, two from Asia, two from South America and one from Oceania, plus the winner of a playoff between Mexico and Asia's No. 3 team.

    yup....

africa got two spots last WWC (ghana and nigeria) and only had one spots in '95 and '91, which nigeria represented the region.

nigeria's been to every women's world cup since it's inception.

It would have been nice if Cameroon had advanced to the World Cup.
