Got some updates: (Not sure how far into the match for these games) Malawi 0-0 Angola Zambia 0-1 Benin Tanzania 1-1 Sudan Mauritius 0-0 Madagascar
Final results: Malawi 1-0 Angola Zambia 1-1 Benin Tanzania 1-2 Sudan Mauritius 0-1 Madagascar Angola is in deep trouble now with this shock result. Also, Sudan is back in the race with their win and Benin's draw with Zambia. Egypt's task as well has become even more difficult now as Madagascar has won again.

Results so far from October 13th: Mozambique 0-3 Congo South Africa 2-0 Burundi Swaziland 2-1 Libya In progress: DR Congo 2-0 Botswana (late 2nd half) I'm surprised with Swaziland coming back to beat Libya. Maybe they will challenge in group 9.

Ludahai- thanks for keeping us updated. So how is Zimbabwe gonna screw themselves this time? Might we be seeing Madagasgar and Swaziland in the finals? What happened to the Lesotho Crocodiles?
ACNQ starts again at the end of March. Tanzania is playing two games against Uganda over the next few weeks. Training has started for Tanzania but only 8 players showed up. The coaches didn't even show.... http://allafrica.com/stories/200303070552.html Liberia might not have money to travel to Ethiopia "... provide funds for the Lone Star to travel to Ethiopia to honor the qualifiers due to the numerous problems he has on hands, like the on going rebel war, coupled with the United Nations' imposed sanctions." http://allafrica.com/stories/200303070198.html
I can't wait for these matches to start, it's been a while. Also, just wanted to mention that I have an article at www.soccerwriter.com which is a group round-up of the ANC Qualifying Round. If you'd like to read it, go to that site and on the main page click on "other libraries" on the left, then click the red link. It's my oldest article, but it is still revelant since we are still in between matchdays. So check it out! A lot will be on the line at the end of this month.
Thanks for the link, I will check it out. Some more ANCQ news... "Malawi's veteran midfielder Ernest Mtawali says he wants to come out of retirement to represent his country in their crucial Nations Cup qualifier against Nigeria." http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/africa/2829869.stm Mtawali hasn't played for his country in two years, and is currently doesn't have a club. Even though he is considered a national hero, Malawi must have better options on their national team.
Nigerian squad for the game on the 29th in Malawi. The foreign based players will fly to Malawi on the 25th. http://sports.yahoo.com/sow/news?slug=reu-squad&prov=reuters&type=lgns Goalkeepers: Vincent Enyeama (Enyimba FC, Nigeria) and Austin Ejide (Etoile, Tunisia) Defenders: Joseph Yobo (Everton, England), Ifeanyi Udeze (West Brom, England), Isaac Okoronkwo (Sharktar Donetsk, Ukraine), Ukraine), Joseph Enakhahire (Standard Liege, Belgium) Romanus Orjinta (Enyimba FC, Nigeria), Seyi Olofinjana (Rangers FC, Nigeria) and Seyi Olajengbesi (Julius Berger FC, Nigeria). Midfielders: Jay Jay Okocha (Bolton, England), John Utaka (Lens, France), Ikpe Ikong (Reggiana, Italy), Ahmed Garba (Pillars FC, Nigeria), Femi Okpabunmi (Grasshoppers, Switzerland), Oge Ileagu (Rangers FC, Nigeria). "The Ethiopian Senior National Team has kick-started preparations for the vital African Nations Cup qualifier against Liberia on March 30. A preliminary squad of 25 players has been named and the team is now staying at the Ethiopian Hotel from where it trains at the Addis Ababa Stadium twice a day." http://allafrica.com/stories/200303140339.html I think Ethiopia has an excellent chance to win this game because the Liberian team is currently a mess. In fact, they might not even make it to Ethiopia because the FA doesn't have the money.
Morocco squad for ANCQ on March 29th in Freetown, Sierra Leone. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/africa/2853123.stm Noureddine Naybet (Deportivo La Coruna, Spain) Abdeslem Ouaddou (Fulham, England) Talal El Karkouri (Sunderland, England) Abdelilah Saber (Napoli, Italy) Moha Yaâkoubi (Osasuna, Spain) Samir Boughanem (Racing Ferrol, Spain) Abdelkrim Kaissi (FC Kazan, Russia) Mourad Hdioued (Litex Lovech, Bulgaria) Nabil Baha (Naval de Maio, Portugal) Jaoud Zairi (Sochaux, France) Tarek Chihab (FC Zurich, Switzerland) Oulaid Regragui (Ajaccio, France) Youssef Chippo (Coventry City, England) Abdelilah Fahmi (Lille, France) Ali El Omari (Gil Vicente, Portugal) Faouzi El Brazi (FC Twente, Netherlands) Moncef Zerka (Nancy, France) Aziz Benaskar (Laval, France) Driss Asmar (Malmo, Sweden)
Central African Republic at Congo postponed A military coup has happened in C.A.R earlier this month and it has made it difficult for the game to go ahead. The game will be rescheduled at a later date. http://sports.yahoo.com/sow/news?slug=reu-congo&prov=reuters&type=lgns Venue switched for Egypt at Mauritius because of security concerns The game will now be played at a stadium that holds 800 people. "No tickets will be sold for the match with invites being sent to officials, players, sponsors and youngsters from the football academy of a local club." Mauritius also set an attendance all time low for an ANCQ in June 2001 when only 78 people showed up to watch them play Liberia.
Ivory Coast prepare for Burundi clash "Former Africa champions Ivory Coast have set up camp in Kenya to prepare for their African Nations Cup qualifier against Burundi in Bujumbura on Sunday." http://www.dailysoccer.com/?page=art&Article=6394&country=&offset=0&ref=hl
some final results from today: Mauritius 0-1 Egypt Nigeria 1-0 Malawi Zambia 1-0 Tanzania Mauritania 0-4 Kenya In progress: Cape Verde Is 0-0 Togo (1st half) Gabon 1-0 Equatorial Guinea (1st half) Rwanda 0-0 Uganda (1st half) None of these results are really that surprising, huge wins for Egypt and Nigeria. Many games left though.
more final results: Gabon 4-0 Equatorial Guinea Uganda 0-0 Rwanda in progress: Togo 0-0 Cape Verde Is (late 2nd half) Morocco 0-0 Sierra Leone (2nd half)
one more final result: Sierra Leone 0-0 Morocco The bbc site is weird, they had Togo-Cape Verde Is. match and the Sudan-Benin match going but I don't even think they were playing. Anyways, this was a good draw for Morocco as the two teams fight for first in the group.
Other results... Sudan 3 Benin 0 (Tambal 35, 70, Kabir 68) Cape Verde Islands 2 Togo 1 (Duco 68, Calo 80; Wondu 37) Full standings and results http://www.dailysoccer.com/?page=art&Article=6469&country=&offset=1&ref=hl Cape Verde has a real chance to qualify for the 2004 African Nations Cup....
Ok now the bbc has the final results up for those two matches...whatever lol. And yeah, Cape Verde Is may actually have a decent chance but Kenya already beat them at home and Kenya is looking like the favorite now.
I don't think Cape Verde Islands will finish first, but they have a strong chance to finish second. I thought the top two from each four team group qualify? Finals from today: Ethiopia 1 Liberia 0 (Antenehe Feleke 80) att: 30,000 Burundi 0 Ivory Coast 1 Very important road win for Ivory Coast Zimbabwe 3 Seychelles 1 Eriteria 0 Mali 2 Swaziland 1 DR Congo 1 Namibia 0 Chad 0 Games still to be played.... Guinea vs Niger, Gambia vs Senegal, and Libya vs Botswana
My mistake, the Chad-Namibia match was not a final. Games in progress: Chad 1 Namibia 0 second half (Mahamad Hisseine 57') Guniea 0 Niger 0 Gambia 0 Senegal 0 This game is a final Mozambique 0 Burkina Faso 0 att: 25,000
Just to update some final results: Chad 2-0 Namibia Guinea 2-0 Niger Gambia 0-0 Senegal Gambia is looking a lot tougher than a lot of people made them out to be. Even though Senegal still looks like the favorite to win the group, Gambia is giving them a run for their money. BTW, in the groups of 4 only the winners qualify however, the best runner-up of all of the groups of 4 will also qualify. 13 group winners best runner-up in groups of 4 Cameroon (holders) Tunisia (host) = 16 nations
