My tips for this week... Richmond to beat Adelaide Carlton to beat West Coast St. Kilda to beat North Melbourne Brisbane to beat Hawthorn Sydney to beat Melbourne Essendon to beat Collingwood Port Adelaide to beat Western Bulldogs Geelong to beat Fremantle And if that last tip doesn't work, don't blame me... blame Michael Ruffles, my colleague (and another Geelong fan) at the Ballarat Courier sports department-- he's basically talked me into this one. So far, my tipping for the season has gotten better-- 20/32 to date, through the first four rounds.
My tips for this week... Adelaide to beat Richmond West Coast to beat Carlton St. Kilda to beat Kangaroos Brisbane to beat Hawthorn Sydney to beat Melbourne Essendon to beat Collingwood Port Adelaide to beat Western Bulldogs Fremantle to beat Geelong - (I hope I get that wrong!) I'm currently on 18 and in need of some good tipping weeks to get my score up to a respectable one. (and also ahead of babytiger2001)
Even mrsbabytiger2001 is ahead of you at this rate, my friend. I might ask her to post her tips here later as well. Meanwhile, Gary Ablett Jr. might be making his season debut for Geelong away to Fremantle on Sunday... Cats hopeful on Ablett -- The Age Ablett set to dock at Freo -- Geelong Advertiser
ok... here are my picks for round 5: Richmond Carlton St. Kilda Brisbane Sydney Essendon Port Adelaide Frementle Have to bet against my cats on this one, 1 game out of 3 does not make a significant change. If they can keep up the pace as they did last week, this one could be a winner too.
lol, great to see babytiger's wife is posting here now, and wow!!!! such an original screen name my picks- Adelaide St kilda Carlton Lions Sydney Magpies Port Fremantle
Unbelievable , a babytiger and a mrsbabytiger! Is this a first for a husband and wife team posting in the same thread on BigSoccer?
Nah, we've posted together before on other threads not in the FFA area. Just ask most people on the Quakes boards.
Friday night footy last night at Telstra Dome... Richmond v Adelaide [result]Richmond 9.5 (59) Adelaide 21.8 (134)[/result] I'll let the rest of you comment on that result, and its consequences and implications.
After today's pathetic effort against Carlton, I am never picking West Coast to win another game in Melbourne until they grow some courage and mental toughness. How frustrated would you be being an Eagles supporter at the moment... last week defeat last year's Premiers, this week get thrashed by last year's wooden spooners!
Here's the report on the game he's talking about. And the final score from Optus Oval, Carlton: [result]Carlton 14.8 (92) West Coast 6.7 (43)[/result]
And the other Saturday games... St. Kilda v North Melbourne, at Telstra Dome: [result]St. Kilda 20.10 (130) North Melbourne 8.17 (65)[/result] Brisbane v Hawthorn, at The Gabba: [result]Brisbane 14.26 (110) Hawthorn 9.8 (62)[/result] Sydney v Melbourne, at Telstra Stadium (formerly Stadium Australia): [result]Sydney 15.9 (99) Melbourne 17.9 (111)[/result] And a bit of news on the Richmond front... Frawley not safe: Casey -- foxsports.news.com.au The article sites the interview on Triple M radio in Melbourne as its source. I listened to that interview yesterday as I was getting ready for the country footy game that I covered, and I have to admire the team of James Brayshaw, Brian Taylor, Sam Newman, Jason Dunstall and Craig Hutchison for getting the bleeding obvious truth out of Richmond president Clinton Casey, regarding Tigers coach Danny Frawley's future being in some doubt. That was a fantastic piece of investigative journalism, and I would play a tape of that to young journalism students to show them how to draw and quarter your subject effectively. Those guys, and Sam Newman especially, sure had their BS detectors on and on in full bore, that's for sure. And Sam was fantastic during the game as well... I think the best way to describe his commentary style right now, is that he's a lot like Howard Cosell was at his peak on "Monday Night Football"-- love him or hate him, he always has something interesting to say, and says it in an interesting way.
From the traditional Anzac Day holiday clash at the MCG: Collingwood v Essendon (with the report forthcoming): [result]Collingwood 11.13 (79) Essendon 17.12 (112)[/result] Port Adelaide v Western Bulldogs and Fremantle v Geelong about to get underway.
I managed to tip 6/8 this week to move to a score of 24 for the season. I missed out on Carlton and Melbourne. As for the Fremantle vs Geelong match, it was disappointing to lose the game, especially after we showed some great character to fight back after Fremantle kicked the first 4 goals of the game. Conditions certainly favoured the Dockers, but even so it was a game we could have won, but just couldn't put the score on the board in the last term and ran out of puff in the end.
Sunday's remaining games... Port Adelaide v Western Bulldogs, from AAMI Stadium: [result]Port Adelaide 17.17 (119) Western Bulldogs 7.22 (64)[/result] And the Fremantle v Geelong nailbiter at Subiaco Oval in Perth: [result]Fremantle 18.9 (117) Geelong 14.7 (91)[/result] Went 5/8 on my tipping, puts me on 25/40 for the season to date.
