does anyone know of a site dealing with subscriptions for the weekly AFL Record? Funnily enough it's hard to come across here in England. Now they may not be willing to post halfway round the world, but I'd like to at least find out. There are enough Aussie ex-pats over here to mean this surely can't be a totally unheard of request. I'm sure last year I found a site that did, but it was too late in the season to make it worthwhile.
Richard, Geoff Slattery Publishing is the AFL's internal media arm, and thereby produces the AFL Record. You might want to contact them with regards to overseas subscriptions.
That was a quick response. So how much is that, in British pounds, or in U.S. dollars? Mind you, that would be for 22 rounds of the home-and-away season plus four weeks of finals including the Grand Final. So that might be worth it, in the long run.
Given the exchange rate, that would be about $360 USD. Based on 26 issues, that's about $12 or so per issue?
you get 22 issues for the regular season, plus all of the finals issues, so 31 in all. The bulk of the cost is postage though, no doubt, as at $3.50 a shot (no idea what finals issues cost) it works out at not much more than $100, and usually subscribers get a pretty sizeable discount. I'll have to think about it.
I checked again on this for this season here... http://www.slatterymedia.com/magazines Remarkably a whole season of AFL Records (presumably 1 random game per round) are available for $185, with free postage. I can only guess somebody at the site hasn't thought things through, as postage is set as free, even to England! Well I'm signed up, so unless someone there realises they've made a terribly costly error, I'll be getting an AFL Record through my letterbox every week. OK, it'll be about a week late, but that's not so bad. How having the benefit of my ignorance wiped out will affect my weekly tipping remains to be seen.
