I might as well congratulate your country right now. I don't think we'll win the final. I feel Kuwait SC were weakened, during the summer transfer window. If we still had Hassan Abdel-Fattah, Ismail Sulaiman Al Ajmi, Rodrigo Vergilio and Waleed Ali in our team, then we would have been in a much stronger position to win this tournament.
Nasaf Qarshi won the AFC CUP.!!! Nasaf 2-1 Al Kuwait http://www.the-afc.com/en/tournaments/clubs/afc-cup/36929-nasaf-v-kuwait-sports-club
I couldn't watch the game, since I'm not in Kuwait and I had to attend to my studies. Now that I know the final scoreline, I'm even more glad I wasn't able to watch it. My friends in Kuwait told me that had it been possible for me to watch the game, I would've lost my mind by now. I really don't know what they meant, LOL. Did anything controversial occur during the game, or were Kuwait SC so poor that it would've aggravated its fans? I honestly don't have a clue what my friends meant and they kept telling me I'll understand what they're talking about once the highlights are up on YouTube. Anyway, I cant say I'm surprised by the defeat. I didn't expect us to win, to be honest. In fact, I'm kind of surprised Kuwait SC were able to push themselves all the way to the final. With all the good players we lost over the past couple of months, during the summer transfer window, it's no surprise we weren't able to get anything out of this fixture. While I cant honestly say I feel disappointed with the defeat, I will say that I do feel disappointed by the lack of proper replacements made in our squad. As I mentioned in yesterday's post, had we kept any of the players we lost in summer, the outcome of this final could have been different. Whoever came up with the decision to let go of four of the best players in our team needs to be sacked, in my opinion. The only thing that makes this defeat more bearable is the fact we won the title, two years ago, and we remain to be the only Kuwaiti club with an AFC trophy to its name. That's more than enough for me, personally. It would've been so nice with 2 AFC Cup wins to our name, but having won it in 2009 is still a remarkable achievement when compared to other clubs in Kuwait, so I'm not too disappointed. Anyway, well done Nasaf Qarshi.
On a side note, I really believe that future final fixtures should be played on a home-and-away basis, or in a neutral venue, at the very least.
It was a very good attacking football, both sides showed a high level performance of asian football (still far away from europe, but anyhow), i really got pleasure to watch this match. But at the end, I have to say that Nasaf deserved to win it, they were a little bit better then the opponent. One game final, is of course another question, I also find it not fair, or at least should be played at neutral place. LOL you mean Chonburi lost to Nasaf 1-0. Nasaf have not lost or tied a single game in the AFC Cup 2011.
He's right, Nasaf lost at home to Chonburi 1:0 but advanced on penalties. Nasaf also tied away to Al Wihdat 1:1 but advanced 2:1 on aggregate. Facts.... good old facts.
LOL, I didn't know the AFC Cup was composed of two legged games. The only result I saw was this one which Chonburi lost in their own home. Also Chonburi didn't win the second leg they tie the aggregate 1-1, but lost on penalty. Anyway, we've had our tit for tat, but what this does show for AFC Cup football is that it's not a walk in the park, there was probably 6 teams who really could have won it with luck this year. In the group stages, there can be some poor teams, but the knockout stages are getting better.
