Shanghai Shenhua 5-1 Petrokimia Putra Geylang United 7-0 DPMM http://footballasia.com/mrel/news_45306_E.html
These matches were both the second leg. Shanghai lost 3-1 away to Putra (Indonesia) in the first leg. Singapore club Geylang won the first leg 3-0 over DPMM (Brunei). Shanghai will now play Geylang in the second round. For those who want to see the results of previous and current matches. RSSSF has a great run down... http://www.rsssf.com/tables/ascup03.html Of course all these matches are qualifying. Group stages start in March of 2003 according to the above link.
The card of east asia's round3 was decided. (17) Geylang(Sin) vs Shanghai(Chn) (18) Mohun Bagan(Ind) vs Taejon(Sko) (19) Shimizu(Jap) vs South China(Hkg) (20) Churchill Brothers(Ind) vs Osothsapa(tha)
My expectation (17)Shanghai win (18)Taejon win (19)Shimizu win (20)Osothsapa win After all, Japan, South Korea, China and Thailand is strong in East Asia. Especially Japan and South Korea are strong. I think that Japan and South Korea should participate from group stage.
They do, there are automatic bids handed out to the Japan and SK champs. But you're probably right. Each of those countries should probably get 2 automatic group stage berths.
12 Nov 2002 South China(Hkg) vs Shimizu(Jpn) Churchill Brothers(Ind) vs Osothsapa(tha) 13 Nov 2002 Shanghai(Chn) vs Geylang(Sin) Taejon(Sko) vs Mohun Bagan(Ind) The game of shimizu will be tomorrow. But the game is not telecast. I am regretful.
Your predictions What are your predictions for the AFC Champions League matches? My predictions: 12 Nov 2002 South China(Hkg) 1-2 Shimizu(Jpn) Churchill Brothers(Ind) 1-0 Osothsapa(tha) 13 Nov 2002 Shanghai(Chn) 1-1 Geylang(Sin) Taejon(Sko) 1-1 Mohun Bagan(Ind)
my predictions South China 1-3 Shimizu S-pulse Shenhua 4-0 Geylang (Orlando and Martinez to score twice each) I don't know much about the other teams so i won't try to guess.
Shimizu is without Ahn J.H. and Santos, and South China has beat them last year. I won't be surprised if South China can pull off an upset tomorrow.
Just like last year, however, there's that whole business about the second leg, too. 12 Nov 2002 South China 2-2 Shimizu Churchill Brothers 2-1 Osotspa 13 Nov 2002 Shanghai 3-0 Geylang Taejon 1-0 Mohun Bagan
i expect around 13 goals from Churchill Brothers. let's say - 13-0. South China will lose. S-Pulse 8, South China, uh, 1. Obrigado.
This Asian Champions League thing provides us with hope, that someday Asian football arena will be more prosperous than those in Europe. It will be a long walk but who knows?
the j-league is La Liga of asia. The results remind me of liga teams in european competition and the way they score lots of goals on everyone. "This Asian Champions League thing provides us with hope, that someday Asian football arena will be more prosperous than those in Europe. It will be a long walk but who knows?" i wouldnt go that far, if the quality of play can get as good as copa libertadores that is enough.
Re: Results And that's without Ahn and Alex. Well done Shimizu. Hope they can avoid a let down in the 2nd leg
Everyone knows about Taejon Citizens is the whooping boys within K-League? It was a miracle itself for them to win FA Cup last season. It seems things will get tougher when korean and japanese clubs meet.
