First press conference of Holland's Euro 2004 campaign.

Advocaat says Robben isn't match fit yet, and that he'll probably be forced to play the diamond formation in the first game against Germany - as seen in the friendly against Greece. I'm guessing that's good news for Seedorf - and bad news for all of us Seedorf-haters. I'm also guessing that that means Kluivert will also start.

Also he really wants to beat Belgium on Saturday - it still annoys him that Belgian players and media were so negative about the Dutch after last year's friendly.

More news: Van Bommel is probably out of the tournament with an injury.

I still remember that Kluivert action against Belgium. One of the most memorable moments in Oranje-Belgium football history! :D

1-robben says he will be ready to go in portugal, so i'm not going to worry about him yet

2-if seedorf bothers to maintain half of his rossoneri form, i will have no beef with him - i'm just sick of seeing him firing lasers to the top corner in red/black and blasting decent chances into the 15th row while wearing ORANJE

4-that does suck, even though i dont like him as a starter - but i will add that our red card danger quotient just dropped several pleasing points

    and most importantly...

3- well lets see it on the pitch then - i missed the greece match (don't ask), but if we come out against neighbors with the same attack malaise that we showed against france and the US and most of qualifying.... imgonbepist!

of course the real test is june 5 - not so much because of ireland (although i will be expecting an admittedly small chunk of revenge), but because ORANJE should be at top efficiency if any of us want to entertain thoughts of going deep in the tourney - hey i'm all for not peaking too soon...

No, man! The goal he made, when he stopped the ball just in front of the goal, leaned on the posts with his hand resting on his side and egged Staehlens (the guy who got him a red card in the World CUp) to get the ball.

If van Bommel, can't go, it would be Bosvelt. Don't we have a better alternative? How about Boateng?

De Jong doesn't play in the right midfield position, Bosvelt does.

First off, it is not probably that van Bommel will miss EURO 2004. He may miss part of it, but he could be match fit for the opening match. He's definitely out of the friendly with Belgium though.

de Jong or a 33-yrd old bench sitter from Man City? I guess de Jong. He was making a great development curve at Ajax in the 2nd half of the season, and there were signs that he too, like Heitinga, was ready to make the step towards the big Oranje.
But reality is, mr no-balls Advocaat has got Bosvelt in mind if van Bommel won't make it. Not a big Bommel fan at all, but let's hope he will be fit.

Does anyone agree that Advocaat looks terribly relaxed these days? He's even being friendly with the media! Wonder what brought that on.

No he's signed a contract extension, he'll be with us till 2006. Contract will be rendered useless, of course, if Holland fails to get past the first round in Portugal.

Because he's an arrogant, vain, full of himself, greedy, patronising etc etc barsteward, but more importantly, because he's screwed up in a Holland shirt more times than I care to remember.

Shockingly, however, he's played rather well for Holland in the most recent friendlies.

Yeah, but you know, once the coach puts faith in him during a major tournament, the arrogant tit fuks up again. I mean, euro 96 was a disaster, and he only managed to hold his starting place in one game during 98 and 00. He's technically good, but he doesn't have skills that other people don't have, and as mentioned, with a character like that, he shouldn't even be in the squad at all.
