In a word, I would say "Nike" and in a second word, I would say "exposure."

And in a third word, I would say "Friendly Fire Fan". Is it possible that Adu might be a touch better (both in potentiality and actuality) than Rolfe. Just a friendly comment.

Regardless, it's awesome that (for the sake of marketing alone (at charity match, no less, those capitalists!)) in the past year or so we've had two players in an international all-star game. First Beasley, now Adu.

But, since we're seeing obvious slighting on the part of Reyna, Donovan, McBride, and the apparently Rolfe, I guess it's time for Kanye West to say:

"International all-star games don't like white American people." :D

Why is that? Is Ronaldo going to be playing as a defender?

Good for him! I feel if he even just shows up it shows how much balls he has. Imagine that, the 16 year old american kid with the worlds top players! Man i would be so god damn intimidated. I would be scared to even get on the field let alone touch the ball in front of all of them!

Are they going to air this? Would be a fun match to watch. These matches always are with alot of goals.

Maybe Adu can impress with a few nice moves. The players take it really easy in these matches... especially in regards to defending. No contact. It mostly just involves attackers having fun by doing nifty dribbling and passing. Not much running at all either.
The 'who is this Adu?' will be a good enough reason for him to go. Maybe he can make a few friends with some superstar players :)

    Quit hating.

It's a charity event and he's the best known and one of the most talented
players from North America. That's what you want at an event like this.

Freddy's gonna dribble around until he finds Ronaldo and then make him look silly.

I hope Fred doesn't get upset when he sees Jamil Walker stating ahead of him again.

Because the league has invested too much in Rolfe and cant afford to have him be seen on an international stage and risk losing him for a $8M+ contract..

Agreed, he will make big headlines over in Europe given the natural curiosity about the kid. If he does well (something pretty easy to do in matches like these), expect everyone over there to be shocked if he's not on the World Cup roster, since most of them already assume he's coming to Germany.

Hell, half my friends over there just assume he's the starting striker since there's so much made about him over there.

i'm sorry, but some of you guys are so idiotic when it comes to anything Adu-related. what the HELL is Adu gonna say at a freakin world all-star charity match??  i mean, he spouts off once to a newspaper reporter and the Anti-Adu segment has him painted as some mentally unstable, homeless vagabond who's on the streets shouting his demented gospel to anyone who'll listen.

do you really think that he's gonna yell at Zidane to pass him the ball at his feet????!!?!

"Hope he enjoys the trip...and keeps his mouth shut!" you are such a loser ......

GET OUT OF HERE ..... you, with your sane, rational takes. that would be seeing the forest for the trees, and we can't have any of that on here. God forbid we analyse each individual experience for what it is--a great experience.

these "fans" have lost so much touch with reality, that they can't see the landmark significance in a 16 yr old AMERICAN kid playing on an all-star team with the likes of Ronaldo and Zidane.

I can appreciate that but I really think the jury is still out on both counts. Both players are still young and I think they both have great potential and both are excellent players right now. As I have mentioned previously, it is really hard to compare the two because they play different positions so I just wish them both the best because I think they epitomize the type of players we need to step up in the international arena.

Wow Asprilla9 its just a charity game, theyre doing it for people not as forunate as you or me. They arent doing it for country or pride. This is not the quarterfinals of the world cup. Calm down.
