Freddy Adu & Peter Nowak live on MLS Conference Call Today at 1:30 PM Listen here. Conference has been delayed... meanwhile you can hear the groovy hold music that MLS has on their phones. Hilarious. It's a porn soundtrack.
Re: Freddy Adu & Peter Nowak live on MLS Conference Call Is this 3 weeks in a row now? Maybe MLS ought to give some one else a try at their conference call. Having Freddy interviewed every week like this feeds into the complaints of PTI, et al. Could it also breed some resentment within the league?
Re: Freddy Adu & Peter Nowak live on MLS Conference Call It's over. Nothing interesting except that Freddy met the Lakers when he was in LA.
Re: Freddy Adu & Peter Nowak live on MLS Conference Call My understanding is that the weekly call is the league's way of keeping the number of individual interviews that Freddy has to do down to a minimum. Instead of handling dozens of individual interview requests, they can do the one weekly conference call. If I remember correctly the typical pattern is to have a conference call at the end of the week with players from both of the teams being shown on ESPN that weekend.
Re: Freddy Adu & Peter Nowak live on MLS Conference Call Freddie Laker...wow, that brings back memories...
Re: Freddy Adu & Peter Nowak live on MLS Conference Call Actually I thought it was interesting when Nowak was asked about Esky and he said something like they didn't think he was playing very well on Saturday so they subbed him out at the half. I think many of us assumed he must have been injured, but that does not seem to be the case. I love Nowak and think he's doing an amazing job, but he may need some english and/or public speaking training. He has some difficulty expressing himself sometimes.
Re: Freddy Adu & Peter Nowak live on MLS Conference Call I also found that interesting, mainly because I thought the same thing. Esky certainly works hard out their, but his touch still leaves something to be desired. Freddy was more effective holding the ball.
Re: Freddy Adu & Peter Nowak live on MLS Conference Call Exactly. I think Esky and/or Cerritos are going to be moved at some point this season. There's not enough room for both, IMO, once Freddy moves into heavy rotation (heck, he's almost there already). Cripes, right now we don't even have to deal with Martins (who I happen to think is a star waiting to emerge) and Q (who I happen to think will either find his place out wide, or not at all).
Re: Freddy Adu & Peter Nowak live on MLS Conference Call It seems like they had alot more trouble finding reporters to actually ask the questions this time, half the interview was reminding the folks how to ask a question on the call (which I will now forever know is to hit *1 on your touch tone phone, and *9 to cancel). Good, maybe that means it's all dying down a bit.....
Re: Freddy Adu & Peter Nowak live on MLS Conference Call Not to hijack this thread or anything, but I think if any of our attacking minded players are put on the trading block, #1 would be Eliseo Quintanilla. He just doesn't seem to me like a player that fits into Nowaks style at all.
Re: Freddy Adu & Peter Nowak live on MLS Conference Call He's "future considerations" waiting to happen.
Re: Freddy Adu & Peter Nowak live on MLS Conference Call I guess the press has figured out that both Nowak and Adu can be counted on to stay "on message." Neither one of them comes anywhere close to being the quote machine that Hudson was.
what more could they say? They get asked the same questions over and over and over. It's not like there are so many different answers they could give.
On second thought, would keeping Quintanilla for the possible expansion team be of any consideration? He's a decent enough player that if DC held on to him they could probably get something of decent value because of his ethnicity.
