In a recent World Soccer magazine, claim to be "the NO.1 International Football Magazine" I stumbled upon an 1/6 of a page note about Freddie. Ofcourse half is about his US potential and the other half is about the age controlversy. Anyways, it's nice to see one of our kids mentioned on a world wide soccer mag. Most young phenoms appear on this magazine at the usually age of 16, so anything is nice. I don't remember the first US potential to appear in a magazine of this caliber at the age of 13. Anyways, just speading the info.

Yes, I wonder how many notes World Soccer has ever made on a 13 year old!

By the way, World Soccer takes a distinctly more skeptical view of Sports Illustrated's search into Freddie's age than did SI itself. Sports Illustrated reports that it "found nothing to disprove" Freddie's birthdate -- an upbeat conclusion. World Soccer notes that Sports Illustrated could find no records of Freddie's birth on June 2, 1989 at the hospital where he was born. It calls the age issue "very mysterious."

Which would be a good phrase for the quality of Ghana's record keeping, I would guess.

Most americans dont understand.Freddy is a world beater. One on one he is the most skillful soccer player in the world right now.Let those who`ve seen him play attest to this.Seeing is believing. He knows no stopping and is destined to be the worlds best.

I don't think that's the first time World soccer has noticed young American players. I seem to remeber a while back they did an issue on the top 100 young players and DMB and Landon were difintely in that list (at least in the top 50 if not higher).

No doubt that Adu's getting some crazy press though.

Ive seen Freddy play. I think Freddy is an amazing talent and could become the first American superstar but he is just that, a talent. As much as he is hyped he needs to develop, he is definitely not the most skillful player in the world right now.
There is no way a 13 year old who is playing against 16 year olds would have more skills than pros who have been playing against the best for years.

You're right Convey was on that list with them and Capano was on the list last year but none of those guys were mentioned in the magazine when they were only 13

Just a little hyperbole in there. Give him 5-10 years before you say that for certain.

Apparently you didn't see Zidane yesterday. But Adu is 13, you're comparing Grapes with Grapefruit.

In as much as y`all dig Zizou the best is yet to come from Freddie.Freddy has a long way to go but the skills he exhibits are legendary and if there`s ever going to be another legend in world soccer he stands a chance of being that one legend if not the best there ever was.Believe u me Zizou has not seen Freddie.

I had been reading almost every issue of World Soccer since WC 1990. I had never seen them y mentioning any 13 year old. Ronaldo was around 16 when I first heard of him from World Soccer.

I think you mean that the skills he exhibits are legendary for a 13 year old, which I might agree with. However I do agree with other posts, good against 16 years is one thing......lets wait and see. I think in the US we have a tendenacy to compare kids with potential to great stars. I don't know how many times I have heard a sports broadcaster compare some great college player to Micheal Jordan or Magic. Come on this is crazy. Lets let him be a kid and see what happens---he has a long way to go.
