Adriano or Luís Fabiano? Who should be Brazil's immediate sub in the attack?

I think (almost) everyone agree that Ronaldo and Ronaldinho are still the first choices in the attack of the seleção 'A' team. We have seen in the WCQs that Luís Fabiano has been the #1 option in the bench as a sub. But now with Adriano (and LF by that matter) performances in Copa America, do you think it should change? Vote and discuss.

Well if we are sticking to CAP's preferred formation, and we can't play four hardcore attackers...I would prefer Adriano. But in my mind, we could play quite well, Adriano, Ronaldo, Kaka, AND Ronaldinho together.

definitly adriano gets better and better

fabiano looks like more of a joker off the bench type player for the brazil Ateam for now--ideal for the last 20 minutes if brazil needs a goal

They could play with Ronaldo/Luis Fabiano with Ronaldinho Gaucho supporting them, then Kaka behind him in midfield. That would be lethal, and fun to watch. I don't really like Ronaldo/Adriano combination. They seem like similar players. But who knows... maybe it would work out better than I'm thinking.

Hopefully injury will not happen, but if it does, there are many different options for Parreira. Like, whatever happened to Denilson?

Oh please, for God sake take Luis Fabiano out of that team. He is an Idiot and does not deserve to be there. There are a lot more strikers in Brazil worth of the position.
If just people look to the northwest of the country they woul find excelent foward.
Adirano is a matador, he can totally be in the A team, also Julio Cesar.

I also hesitate to put Adriano alongside Ronaldo even if Ronaldinho were missing, but would make him my number one choice to replace Ronaldo.

Now, JP, you don't think Adriano should replace Ronaldo do you?

  8. luis fabiano aint all that couldnt get past onces defense...who is the top goal scorer in the brazilean league right now?

Nooh, not yet...but it might be good for Ronaldo to have a monster like Adriano chomping at his heels.

No surprise here, a thread made for a player who I naturally defended in confidense when most doubted him; not so long ago if my memory serves me correctly:

    https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=109572&page=2&pp=15

The kid plays in one of the best leagues in the world and averages 20+ goals and then goes on to be Copa America's best player; kinda makes this thread a big no-brainer now doesn't it?

Based on Copa America it's a no-brainer. Is Adriano always this good or did he get hot at the right time?

I know I will be in the minority here but I say bench Ronaldo and stick Adriano in his spot. I know this would never happen since Ronaldo is guaranteed a starting spot. But if Brazil continue to use one striker with Kaka/Ronaldinho behind I feel Adriano would be better in that role than Ronaldo. For all Ronaldo's greatness he is still not the best inside the box. Adriano is a predator in the box unlike Ronaldo and would be better suited to head in the great passes from Brazil's midfield and wing backs.

Sorry Sao Paulo residents, but it's got to be Adriano as backup.

Ronaldo might still get hurt again and it would be nice to have Adriano there as insurance. CAP can be too cautious so he probably won't play them togther.

In re to Denilson, he has been hurt off and on at Betis and may be a little too wild for CAP who would rather have two or three more Dungas.

Re: The Brazil Forum's Official Copa America thread [R]

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Adriano is now officially giving notice of his intent to start in WC 2006.

Not just in the Copa America- he had an incredible year with Inter, supplanting crybaby Christian Vieri. If he is able to score like mad in the boring defensive world of Catenaccio, he can score anywhere.

In two years he will be a monster.

I'm sure Adriano will get a shot as a sub for Ronaldo considering his performance at Copa America - and whenever Ronaldo needs a rest, is suspended or injured he'll probably get 90 minutes.

But however you rationalize it, benching the best forward in the world is dumb.
