http://www.arsenal.com/article.asp?...e=Adebayor+-+We+have+shown+we+are+'up+for+it' Great to see another young leader emerging. I know he is chomping at the bit to get back to last years form and improving, as well. I think with Dudu and Bendtner vying for striker playing time, the pressure will definately be on Emmanuel.
man, i love the way adebayor runs his heart out for every ball and always gives his best effort. great to have a guy like that up front
I know this sounds nuts, but Bendtner should start. He has been here longer and if I remember correctly, he had a good preseason. I say sub Eduardo and Ade for 20 mins and also start them in Carling Cup matches, just for now.
I really like Adebayor's attitude and work ethic, and RvP's skill, but neither seem the ruthless finishers that Bendtner and Eduardo seem to be. I'd rather see Eduardo take the occasional wild shot from outside the box, than RvP pass again from inside. And Bendtner always seems willing to turn to goal. I hope they're both giving more chance to shine. I imagine Bendtner will own the Carling Cup.
What are you basing this on? Neither one have ever scored a Premiership goal, while RvP and Ade have both scored winners for us. Why do people always like the guy who no one has seen do anything?
Okay, I'm not saying they should replace Ade and RvP, but I don't think AW ought to wait so long against a team like Man City. Sometimes it seems Ade can't find his own feet. Eduardo is the record scorer, as well as player of the year, in his previous league (which I know isn't the Premeirship), and a great striker. We'll see... I like the way Bendtner has made is presence felt in front of the goal, and given more time, he'll also put some in. Arsenal could do with a large physical player in front - more physical than Ade. Don't get upset, it's just thinking out loud.
Adebayor is never going to be a 20+ goals-a-year striker, but he adds a lot to the team. Announcers and opposing defenders always seem to be referencing how "troubling" and "unsettling" Adebayor's presence is when he's on the field. He's got a great workrate, and I love it when he's playing on the back heels of the defenders. Sure, he gets a lot of offsides calls, but he gets through, also, and the fear of that tends to keep defenses a little more honest, and -- hopefully -- playing a nervous offsides trap. He was rusty against Man City, that certainly wasn't his best. I didn't mind seeing him start though, the only way to get rid of the rust is to play. I'm still banking on 12-15 goals from Ade this season.
Ade's going to be pretty important for us .. He's the first choice striker partner for RvP and he still has room for improvement ..
Rio Ferdinand went on record on saying that Emmanuel Adebayor is the most troubling player he faced last season. He scores big goals in my eyes. He scored that vital goal versus Manchester United away from home, and he has potential. As we've said before he is not a 20 goal striker, but he is vital to the team work ethic and attitude. He is the Gilberto/Flamini of our forward line if such an analogy can even bridge a similar gap I'm thinking of. He works hard, he scraps, and he bags goals. Maybe not impressive ones, but a goal is a goal, and that's all that matters in this game.
He's not a 20 goal a season guy... yet. But I don't see why he couldn't be. He's still only 23, younger than Van Persie. I don't see why people assume he won't develop. Plus some of his passes are fantastic.
Speaking about Babel, i was watching the LPool games .. He doesn't have a very good first touch .. Better than Baptista but nothing close to what i was expecting .. I don't know if i'm a little disappointed or relieved we didn't buy him .. Anyway, I would like to see what Dudu and Adebayor can do together .. Adebayor is pretty good at holding the ball [so is Dudu] but Dudu makes soem very good runs into the box .. He probably realised how less time u get on the ball in the Premier league, when compared in the Croatian league ..
Might be nice, RvP could do with a game off, and both Adebayor (esp.) and Eduardo need games. If Gilberto is back in the centre to keep a decent spine of the team, I'd say yes.
Ade was knackered againsy City, but it was good he played, maybe Eduardo could have came on for him a lil sooner though. i hope Eduardo starts tomorrrow aswel, him and Adebayor, then swap Ade for bendter after about 60 mins. i wanna see EDS get 90 mins...
