what a load of rubbish so, by this logic: 1. if you were to put dirt out to cover holes in the turf, this is also an artificial surface? do you have to call up the upcoming opposing team and tell them, "we're putting out dirt in holes and there won't be any grass there so please bring an extra pair of shoes?" 2. if you cut the grass from 1/2" down to 1/4" do you have to call up the other team to tell them to bring an extra pair of shoes because they might not have the same conditions as the prior week? do you have to give them an extra day to practice on the field to acclimate themselves? 3.if you put up extra temporary stands for a game that ended uo blocking the wind do you have to call the other team in advance so they can come early to get used to it? where does this end? the fact is that if Charlton had filed an official protest BEFORE they got their asses whumped, there might be some credibility here, but they didn't. the referee said the field was playable, they played and got beat. I don't give a rats ass if they make us replay it 'cuz Charlton's got nuthin, but to say they aren't whining is a joke. hell, their own manager isn't even asking for the replay. P.S. you know, the Brazilians play a lot on sand. it seems to lend itself to their game pretty well. maybe Charlton should practice up on it a bit.
