No, not a sequel, though there's an amusing flashback to the set of Being John Malkovich. It was supposed to be an adaptation of The Orchid Thief by Susan Orlean (Meryl Streep), which Charlie Kaufman was signed to do, but he ends up making a film about his struggle with making the book into an entertaining movie, though parts of the film are a faithful adaptation of Thief. Most of the film is supposed to be real, though he creates an alter-ego, Donald Kaufman (who is also credited as a writer), a twin brother who basically represents Charlie's id. I'm not sure how to explain it and still do justicce to the film. All I can say is, whatever you expect it to be, it's not. It's a bit long but the payoff is fantastic. Probably the best movie I've seen all year or close 2nd after Igby Goes Down
