Really pinging the ball around quickly now, hitting the lead pass up the wing to the runner in behind, and some great footwork to evade around the sideline and keep possession for the team.
Not watching game but in terms of formation and ta position i found it remakably bizar. He would play wing cam and defender
Great work by Adams to support the fullback and clear the ball. A very physical, athletic play from him.
Defensively, taking some chances and winding up taking some poor angles, but winning the ball a lot also to set up counters. Probably how he's instructed to play in the press.
https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1...-2018-2019-Hannover-96-RasenBallsport-Leipzig Head and shoulders above anyone else on the pitch with a 7.4 (pre penalty)
I can only repeat what the Spanish-language commentators in FOX Sports 2 say about Adams: "impeccable." He plays with them as if he had been playing with the team for a couple of seasons already. Impressive, and our best guy in Europe right now.
Highest rated outfield player by far per Whoscored, prior to the penalty kick (give him his reward!).
He intercepted a pass almost in the middle of the field, but it ran all the way out for a throw-in. It's those kinds of interceptions-turned-counterattacks that would be really useful in such a scrappy game. His more-difficult forward passes haven't worked out. He'll hit the easier forward pass to a teammate in space, but no positive long-balls or diagonals have come off yet.
Yeah, I think he has been very good. But maybe I am biased. I don't get some of the negativity of the English speaking announcers. It is like they are TRYING to keep people from getting too excited about him.
Lucky for Hannover to be so close to half time, they honestly look on the verge of imploding. Frustration is definitely running high for them
The analog you're looking for is Stuart Holden. He's made a similar transition to where he's immediately been one of the better players on the field in a top league, and arguably superior to how he fared in MLS. That's a testament to his poise, desire to achieve, play speed, technique, and teammate's ability to make runs and be a receiver for him as well as vice versa.
Adams is looking like an integral part of the team and his teammates are really trusting him in possession. If you didn't know it you wouldn't think this is just his 2nd game.
I was at the Dortmund game last weekend and talked to some Hannover fans after the match in the train station. They are demoralized. Look to be going down unless something drastically changes. I brought up the Cherundolo days to change the subject. One supporter thinks he will be the coach in 5 years.
FS2 color commentator (Fulhamericas Morris Voltz?) has commented multiple times how Tyler’s quality in certain situations could just be a bit better, and isn’t his his best, then goes on and raves about him. Tyler’s had probably one bad touch. It’s strange and annoying, loads of praise but always that comment!
Kampl is gonna get Wally Pipped if he doesn't get healthy soon. Might even be too late for that. Adams is a monster.
They're not resulting giveaways this game, rather he's winning possession up the field after the opponent needs to hustle to clear the ball out of play. So they've still been a plus, while virtually eliminating the negative. Next progression would be to hit those key passes in the center. He is on the wing with thru balls and low crosses.
I'm always blown away by how cheap the halftime productions in these Fox matches are. Like this weird feature about Augsburg...why? And then it'll just quick cut to the actual match when it's about to restart. It's like the old features they would show on MLS Live during halftime.
Oh, I got more commercials. I'm watching on my parent's Xfinity though. Yeah, the Augsburg feature was weird though. Af first I thought it was going to be a quick alphabetic rundown of the size of each club, or something. Then it started going deep...Augsburg, not related in any way.
